Two new members were recently sworn in to complete the makeup of the Pulaski County Election Board. Jon Frain and Laura Bailey are no longer board members. Patty Sullivan and Jessye Gilley were appointed as their replacements.

After the board reorganized, Chairperson Patty Sullivan pointed to the Culver School referendum to be included on the General Election ballot for Tippecanoe Township voters in Pulaski County on Nov. 6.

The question reads:

“For the eight (8) calendar years immediately following the hold of the referendum, shall the Culver Community Schools Corporation impose a property tax rate that does not exceed seventeen cents ($.017) on each one hundred dollars ($100) of assessed valuation and that is in addition to all other taxes imposed by the school corporation for the purpose of funding academic and educationally-related programs, increasing student opportunities and students safety, managing class sizes, and attracting and retaining teachers?”

Pulaski County Clerk Christi Hoffa received notice on Friday, July 27 that the Department of Local Government Finance approved the wording of the referendum question provided by the Culver Community School Corporation. With that, the board members unanimously approved the question to be included on the ballot for the General Election.

The Culver Community School Corporation is comprised of four townships in four counties: Starke, Marshall, Pulaski and Fulton. The referendum question will be posed to voters in all four townships this November.
