A North Judson man will face a jury of his peers in a trial in Starke Circuit Court this week.
Matthew Schutz, 32, is charged with murder in an incident that occurred at a North Judson home on Jan. 17, 2017. According to the charging information, Schutz allegedly stabbed Bradley White in the chest causing his death.
A jury will be seated this morning. During a pre-trial motions and instructions hearing on Friday, Judge Kim Hall noted that about 78 people were summoned to the court for today’s jury selection. Twelve jurors will be chosen with one alternate for the trial that is expected to run through Wednesday of next week.
Opening statements will be delivered after the jury is seated. That could happen yet today, depending on the length of time it will take to select the jurors. Witness testimony will follow opening statements.
