Knox Board of Works Members Approve Fire Truck Change Order

The Knox Board of Works members discussed a change order for the newly purchased fire truck for the Knox-Center Township Fire Department.

Fire Chief Kenny Pfost said there were some minor modifications made after a pre-construction meeting with manufacturer Toyne Inc. where every bid spec was reviewed.

They removed a light tower due to cost and a support pad in the cab for that tower. Unnecessary lighting was also removed, but certain warning lights that weren’t included in the original drawings of the truck were added.

No additional cost will be incurred as a result of the changes made. With that, the board members approved the change order as presented.

The Knox City Council previously approved an ordinance to issue a General Obligation Bond to pay for the fire truck. The bond issuance is for a total of $650,000 to cover the cost of the fire truck, any add-ons or potential change orders, and Umbaugh and Associates’ $50,000 bond counsel charge.
