Lee Patterson Sentenced on OVWI, Resisting Law Enforcement Charges

A San Pierre man was sentenced on charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated and resisting law enforcement with a vehicle in a hearing in Starke Circuit Court on Thursday morning.

Lee Patterson, 48, admitted to Magistrate Jeanene Calabrese that he was intoxicated at the time an officer was attempting to pull him over in an incident on Aug. 31, 2018, and he fled using the vehicle he was driving in the area of 500 S. and 750 W. in Starke County.

He pleaded guilty to the charges in a negotiated plea agreement between his Defense Attorney Ryan Beall and Starke County Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Micah Cox.

Magistrate Calabrese accepted the plea agreement.  He will serve 365 days in the Starke County Justice Center with all of the sentence suspended to be served on probation.  His Driver’s License will be suspended for 90 days retroactive to the administrative date.  He will need to undergo a substance abuse evaluation and a defensive driving course.  The sentence may be modified at any time.  He was credited for 22 days of actual days served.
