Hamlet Park Board Continues Planning for Memorial Walking Path

Even though Constellation of Starke wasn’t designated a Stellar Community in 2019, the Hamlet Park Board is confident that it will still be able to complete one of its projects next year.

During Wednesday’s meeting, it was reported that the American Legion has raised over $5,000 to build a walking path in memory of Robert J. Tauteris Jr. Clerk-Treasurer Kristina Pitts said the park board has about $3,500 left over in this year’s equipment budget that can be carried over to next year using the Rainy Day Fund. With those figures, Board President Dave Kesvormas didn’t think they were far off from the estimated cost.

It was also noted that some businesses have expressed interest in donating materials or services, or offering them at a reduced cost. Anything left over could be used to resurface the town’s skate park.

Board members plan to discuss the figures in more detail on Wednesday, January 22 at 6:00 p.m. Kesvormas hoped that the path could possibly be ready in the spring, depending on the weather.
