Outgoing Knox Clerk-Treasurer Prepares Office for Successor

Knox Clerk-Treasurer Jeff Houston recently informed officials that he’s taking steps to make sure everything is up-to-date before he leaves the position in 2020.

He explained that he’s working with staff in his office to make sure that all recent ordinances that were passed are also codified.

Houston said the process involves sending the ordinances down to MuniCode, a company in Florida. They take the information and enter it into the City’s Code of Ordinances, which is available through cityofknox.net.

In January, Cyndi Mann-Kidder will take over as the new clerk-treasurer. During May’s Municipal Primary Election, she collected 50 more votes than the other Democratic candidate and didn’t face a Republican competitor in November’s Municipal General Election.

Houston will continue to serve the community in an official capacity as the Democratic Party Chair. He was sworn into that position during a caucus in March after long-time Party Chair Kenny Wallace announced his resignation.
