Executive Order Makes It Easier for Pharmacy Students to Start Working during COVID-19 Pandemic

Indiana is taking steps to put new pharmacists to work during the COVID-19 public health emergency. An executive order from Governor Eric Holcomb Wednesday lets pharmacy students who’ve completed their required coursework apply for a temporary license without the need for certain exams and a background check.

The order also allows health care providers who can’t meet in-person continuing education requirements to use distance learning instead. Additionally, public employees who’ve been affected by COVID-19 may now access funds from their retirement plans without penalty.

The governor is also waiving penalties on special assessments and fees that are normally included on property tax bills, for a period of 60 days.
