Knox Eases More Park Facility Restrictions

The City of Knox continues easing restrictions at its park facilities. The basketball and pickleball courts and baseball and softball fields are now fully open, as part of an executive order signed by Mayor Dennis Estok Thursday. Until now, most of those facilities had been limited to practice and conditioning only. The dugouts are also open.

Restrictions remain in place at the splash pad. It’s limited to 25 children at a time, and its hours of operation are still noon to 6:00 p.m. All drinking fountains remain closed. The outdoor activities in Halifax are quite popular.

Park visitors are directed to continue social distancing whenever they interact with other members of the public. Social gatherings of up to 250 people may take place, as long as CDC guidelines are followed. Playgrounds, bathrooms, shelters, trails, and the skate park are all open.

Residents are reminded to wash their hands often, cough or sneeze into their elbow, avoid touching their face, stay more than six feet apart, and stay home if they’re sick.
