Pulaski Commissioners to Consider Building Fee Adjustments, Health Insurance, Bridge Bid

Pulaski County Commissioners: Mike McClure, Jerry Locke, Kenny Becker

An adjustment to Pulaski County’s building department fees will be discussed by the county commissioners tonight. Building Inspector and Plan Administrator Doug Hoover is expected to present a recommendation from the advisory plan commission. Meanwhile, a plan to once again go after unpaid EMS bills will be discussed by EMS Director Brandon DeLorenzo.

The commissioners are also expected to make a decision on county employees’ health insurance. If they keep the benefits the same, the cost will increase by more than $200,000. This comes as the county faces a possible $2.5 million annual budget shortfall by 2022. If the commissioners decide to make adjustments, employees would only have until August 1 to enroll in a new plan.

In other business tonight, the commissioners will choose a construction contractor for a bridge replacement project on County Road 400 East over Mill Creek. The county got four bids for the work. They came in a little higher than expected, ranging from just over $561,000 to more than $817,000.

The commissioners will also discuss paving bids for the Winamac ambulance garage parking lot and make an appointment to the Francesville-Salem Township Public Library Board. Circuit Court Judge Mary Welker will give updates on grants and a mobile court reporting system.

Tonight’s Pulaski County Commissioners meeting starts at 6:00 EDT at the Pulaski County Highway Garage.
