The Hamlet Park Board will be able to complete the Robert J. Tauteris Jr. Memorial Walkway in one phase. The town had considered splitting it up into two sections due to uncertainty with the costs. But when the park board opened the lone concrete bid Wednesday, town officials felt the total cost could easily be covered with the money available.
“It says for part A, it’s $4,650, and then the second one is $7,850,” said Board President Dave Kesvormas. “So if you add that up together, I think we should just go ahead and do the whole thing. We got $5,000 from the Legion.”
The park board officially approved the bid from Covenant Concrete for a total cost of $12,500. The plans have been adjusted to call for a five-foot-wide trail, rather than four feet, to match the existing sidewalk.
In other business Wednesday, the Hamlet Park Board agreed to donate $500 to the Yellowstone Trail Festival, $250 to the Starke County Fair, and $250 to the Knox fireworks display.
