Winamac residents will have to pay for trash pickup starting in January. The town council recently finalized an ordinance that will charge residents a five-dollar monthly fee.
Currently, Winamac residents are not directly charged for the service. Council President Tom Murray noted that even with the fee, it won’t cover the entire cost charged to the town. No objections were raised during a public hearing.
Meanwhile, an ordinance raising trash collection fees in the City of Knox will be presented to the city council tonight.
