A statewide Silver Alert has been canceled in the case of James Runkle who was reported missing from North Judson September 21, 2019.
Starke County Sheriff Bill Dulin stated in a press release that detectives from the Starke County Sheriff’s Department immediately worked to find Runkle once the report was made. Information given to police led investigators to Two Harbor, Minnesota where Runkle traveled under his own free will, according to the report. Police say his wallet and ID were found inside his vehicle, but his kayak was not in the bed of the vehicle.
There were reportedly no signs of struggle or other indications of foul play.
Sheriff Dulin stated that evidence has not been found to suggest a crime was committed and the criminal investigation has concluded. Runkle will remain in the National Crime Information Center database as a missing person.
