Knox City Council Approves Amended Match Amount for Stellar Project

The Knox City Council members agreed last week to put forth additional funds for the city’s match toward the Stellar project approved for funding from the Office of Community and Rural Affairs (OCRA) for Constellation of Starke reaching the finalist stage in the 2019 Regional Stellar Communities Designation process.

The county received $333,000 to be spent on projects.  The projects include a trail head at Bass Lake, a restroom project at Norwayne Field in North Judson, and a new shelter at Wythogan Park in Knox.

During the City Council meeting last week, Mayor Dennis Estok said the council initially earmarked $19,000 for the match, but since that time the match has gone up to $36,243 due to an increase in the project costs, and the elimination of a project in the original plan.

The money would come from CEDIT or American Rescue Plan Act funds, as necessary which was met with a unanimous approval by the council.
