Knox Mayor Looking for Volunteers on Family Fun Day, City Council Approves Financial Items

Knox Mayor Dennis Estok is looking for volunteers to help with Family Fun Day on Saturday, July 2 at Wythogan Park.

He asked that anyone interested in helping during the day to call Peggy Travis at Knox City Hall at 574-772-4553.

Parade applications are due by Friday, June 24.

The 4th of July Parade will begin at 1 p.m., followed by fun activities for the entire family including food and music beginning at 2 p.m. at Wythogan Park.  A beer garden will also be offered.  The fireworks show will begin at approximately 9:30 p.m. CT.

Details of the Family Fun Day will be included in an upcoming newscast.

During Tuesday night’s Knox City Council meeting, the council members unanimously agreed to give $1,000 to Community Services of Starke County to assist with costs associated with programs and services there.

They also unanimously approved a temporary loan resolution that would allow the city to borrow $40,000 from the CEDIT Fund to pay for the fire equipment bond. The fund would be repaid when the city receives the property tax distribution from the county.
