The City of Knox Water Department will begin flushing fire hydrants throughout the city this week.
During this time, motorists are asked to avoid areas where they see crews working. Mayor Dennis Estok mentioned the process may result in some temporary discoloration in a homeowner’s water. He explained when they start flushing hydrants, iron will be stirred which will cause the discoloration in the water. He said to let faucets run until the water runs clear.
