The Knox Community School Board members met for the first time this year Monday, January 6.

Superintendent Greg Mikulich said Kirk Bennett, Autumn Ferch, Wendy McIntire, and Dr. Thomas Browne were given the oaths of office as they start new terms on the school board. They were elected into office in November.

Following the oaths, the board held the election of officers. Mikulich said the board members could not come to a majority vote on motions for a president as there was one abstention from each vote. As a result, Mikulich said Jason Downs will remain as President until a determination at a future meeting.

The board did vote unanimously to elect Wendy McIntire as Vice President and Erin Duff as Secretary.

Additionally, the board members unanimously approved Kasey Clark as the Corporation Treasurer, Danielle Binkley as Deputy Treasurer, Erin Duff as the board’s Legislative Liaison, Alan Selge and Dolores Surfus to the Starke County Historical Society, Sharon Shorter to the Indiana Cooperative Library Services Authority, William Kaminski as the board’s legal counsel, Gary Dulin as the Knox Park Board representative, and Kirk Bennett as the Knox Redevelopment Commission representative.
