The North Judson-San Pierre School Board members approved bus purchases when they met last week.
Business Manager/Treasurer Dalton Tunis explained that it is the desire of the corporation to purchase two 14-passenger buses and one 48-passenger bus for special needs students. One special needs bus and two yellow Bluebird buses will be traded in as part of the deal.
The board unanimously approved the Midwest Transit bid for $376,423 which is $14,000 less than the MacAllister cost.
Additionally, the board approved the 2025-2026 school calendar. Superintendent Dr. Kelly Shepherd said the calendar is similar to this year’s calendar with the first day of school for students as August 6, 2025 and the last day May 21, 2026. Board member Sheila Akers commented that taking the day off the day before Thanksgiving was a great decision. Dr. Shepherd stated that it will likely stay that way in future consideration of school calendars.
