Two Plead Guilty in Starke Circuit Court Hearings

Joshua Ramirez and Ryan Rubino recently pleaded guilty in hearings in Starke Circuit Court.

Joshua Ramirez pleaded guilty in a plea agreement with the state to an amended count of unlawful carrying of a handgun, a Level 5 Felony. He was arrested April 15, 2024 following a traffic stop by a Starke County Sheriff’s Office deputy near the area of U.S. 35 and 25 North. Ramirez was sentenced to three years in the Indiana Department of Correction with all of the sentence suspended to be served on probation. Ramirez shall be ordered to participate in programming as directed by Starke County Court Services.  It was noted that based upon Ramirez’s IRAS score concerning recidivism, he fell into the moderate range to re-offend.  It was further noted that evidence-based practices support this level of monitoring.

Ryan Rubino pleaded guilty in a plea agreement with the state to theft, a Level 6 Felony. He was arrested September 20, 2022 following a report of a trailer theft and an investigation led to his arrest. Rubino was sentenced to 8 actual months in the Starke County Justice Center.  Rubino was also ordered to pay restitution in the amount of $250.00 to the victim in this case.  It was noted during the hearing that Rubino has several pending matters in Porter County and will be participating in the Porter County Drug Court Program once his sentence in Starke County has been served.
