LaPorte County Authorities Searching for Man Believed to be Armed and Dangerous
The LaPorte County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s help in locating a man considered to be armed and dangerous. They say 46-year-old David Lane forced his way into his estranged wife’s residence in the 4800 East block of County Road 200 North Monday night, threatened her with a firearm, battered her and threatened to harm himself and to commit “suicide by cop.” Continue reading
Lack of Snow Saves Starke County Money
Starke County had no snow events in February. Highway Superintendent Rik Ritzler says the little bit of snow that fell recently didn’t linger long enough to send plows out. He told the commissioners Monday that translates into big savings for the fuel budget. The Starke County Highway Department used about 6,000 gallons of diesel fuel last month, compared to 12,000 in February of 2016 and 14,000 the previous year. Continue reading

Hamblin’s funeral is today at 1:30 p.m. at M.C. Smith Funeral Home in Knox, with visitation there from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the service. Memorial contributions may be given to the Hamblin Scholarship Fund at the Starke County Community Foundation.
