Knox Mayor Anticipates Largest Turn out Ever during May’s Prayer Breakfast

Knox officials are expecting a big turn out for the annual Prayer Breakfast next month.

Mayor Dennis Estok let city council members know what’s happening with the event when they met Tuesday night.

He explained, “The Prayer Breakfast on May the 2nd is sold out, we have no more seats available. This will probably be the largest we’ve ever had with 38 tables and 8 at each table.”

No Major Concerns Voiced with Knox Schools’ Building Plans during Informational Meeting

Tom Neff with architectural firm Schmidt Associates discusses Knox Schools’ proposed building project during an informational meeting Monday.

No major concerns were raised during a public presentation on the Knox Community School Corporation’s proposed building project Monday. Current plans call for the demolition of the elementary school’s Palmer Wing, and the construction of a new addition extending south from the newer portion of the school.

No Changes Expected for Hamlet Residents, Following Sale of Garbage, Recycling Contractor

No major changes are expected in Hamlet’s trash and recycling pickup, following the sale of Local Affordable Disposal. Clerk-Treasurer Kristina Pitts recently told the town council that the company has been acquired by Michiana. She said garbage will continue to be collected each Tuesday, and recycling will be picked up every other Wednesday.

Lack of Pageant Participants Worries Mint Fest Organizers

Mint Festival Organizer Donna Henry shared some concerns about a lack of participation in the annual pageant at last week’s North Judson Town Council meeting.

She said even after holding three sign-ups, there were only a couple of people registered and there weren’t any queen candidates at all. With the registration deadline approaching at the end of this month, Henry said organizers are worried the pageant may have to be canceled.
