Incidents:
01/23/11 A woman in Denham reported to police that a young man wearing a plaid coat knocked on her door saying his vehicle was broke down on 575 West. The woman let him use her phone and couldn’t reach anyone. He then asked if he could crash there. The woman said no and then he left the residence. She said he smelled like he had been drinking.

01/22/11 A man called police and said he fell asleep while driving and hit an REMC utility police in Winamac. He was not injured.

01/22/11 A man residing in Rich Grove Township called police to reported that when he went to his father’s residence, he found evidence that someone broke in. His father had recently passed away and the home was unoccupied.

01/22/11 A caller told police that he hit a tree with his car and has minor injuries.

01/21/11 Police believe they found a vehicle involved in a hit and run accident two days prior. The vehicle was impounded.

01/21/11 A woman called police to report incessant phone calls from Jamaica claiming she’s won a million dollars. She wants to block the number.

01/21/11 Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department received a call of a vehicle on its top. One person was out of the vehicle and one person was still in the vehicle. The two were taken to IU Health-Starke Hospital.

01/21/11 A caller reported a station wagon on fire in Winamac and it was fully engulfed. The car was held for investigation.

01/20/11 A woman called police to report a residential break in.

01/20/11 A caller reported a stolen vehicle in Winamac.

01/19/11 A woman called police and reported that a person may have broken into her business. Shattered glass was all over the floor.

01/19/11 A Winamac resident reported the theft of a license plate.

01/18/11 The theft of scrap metal was reported in Winamac. The metal was worth approximately $800.

01/18/11 An employee at Next Door Food Store reported that a patron came into the store and asked if a $50 he received from someone was fake. It was determined the bill was fake and the man left the store.

01/18/11 The maintenance man at 1st Source Bank reported finding a brick and a piece of paper in an outside light. The cryptic writing on the paper appeared to belong to Social Youth Chaos. The light had been reported being out for approximately two weeks.

01/18 Jason Bazemore reported a minor vehicle accident. He parked his vehicle in the Walgreens parking lot and went into the store. When he came out, someone had hit the driver’s side of the truck bed in front of the rear tire.

01/22/11 Two loud explosions were reported in the 6300 block of W. 400 S., in North Judson. Officers investigated and reported no findings.

01/22/11 A resident in the 2500 block of S. 100 W. in North Judson reported that the resident’s house was paint balled.

01/22/11 A caller reported some unknown person(s) pulled up to a black car, went into the vehicle, took some clothing and left.

01/21/11 A caller reported seeing six kids trying to break into his truck.

01/21/11 A caller requested to speak with an officer in reference to a break in at a residence in San Pierre. The incident happened at his grandmother’s house and she is missing money.

01/20/11 Police were notified of a possible scam. A woman called police and said that she received a call from a girl claiming to be her granddaughter and she was asking for bail money.

01/18/11 Debra Milton reported the tires on her daughter’s car were slashed.

01/15/11 A woman in the Monterey area reported a break-in. Two gun lockers were pried open, but no firearms were taken. 3D glasses and 15 video games were stolen.

01/16/11 Officers responded to a call of possible shots fired. Police reported the status was ok and no one was around the area.

01/16/11 Police pulled over a car in front of the Marathon Station in Winamac. The driver was cited for no license and had a child restraint violation.

01/16/11 A caller reported two tires on the passenger side of her vehicle have been slashed. Police later met with two people who witnessed the incident.

01/15/11 A caller reported that renters had moved out of the house and when the caller went to the house, the caller found that someone had broken into the home and stole items.

01/14/11 A couple in White Township is requesting extra patrol. The wife reported hearing a noise outside the residence that night. When the husband got up today, there were fresh tracks in the snow that led up to the house.

01/14/11 A resident in Indian Township called police to report that a black car had pulled up to his residence and sat there with parking lights on for over an hour. When the resident went to see what what going on, the driver left.

01/12/11 Linda Holland reported damage to her gate on her property. The suspect used a cutting device to cut the board nearly completely through and forced the gate partially open. Evidence showed that a suspect attempted to open two windows of the residence.

01/15/11 Patricia Pearl told police she was driving down Toto Road and a passing vehicle threw a bottle of the window and it struck her vehicle and caused damage.

01/15/11 Rodney Sanders called police to report that his brother’s residence had been broken into. There was an ax located outside the door.

01/15/11 A Monterey resident called police to report his dog was shot by the neighbors.

01/15/11 Ed Reiss reported that some unknown suspect(s) hit his chain link fence and damaged a telephone box.

01/15/11 Connie Snyder called to report her gold 1998 Ford Windstar van was missing.

01/12/11 A resident in the 400 S. and 200 E. area in Knox reported a stolen motorcycle.

01/11/11 Tami Linback called to report that her mailbox was hit.

01/11/11 A Knox Community School bus was involved in a minor accident with another vehicle. The two vehicles hit mirrors and suffered no other damage and no injuries were reported.

01/11/11 A caller reported a window broken at an old garage store in English Lake.

01/11/11 An alleged battery occurred at the Starke County jail in a cell block. Four inmates were reportedly involved and one suffered injuries. Eight inmates were in the block at the time of the alleged incident.

01/10/11 Todd Meloy reported his mailbox destroyed for the seventh straight day.

Incidents:
01/11/10 North Judson Police investigated a property damage only accident in the parking lot of the CVS Pharmacy. One vehicle was backing out of a parking spot and hit another vehicle in the side. North Judson Chief Doug Vessely estimated the damage at less than $1,000 and no injuries were reported. Driver of the first vehicle was Cathy Calhoun of Knox in a 2004 Jeep, who backed into a 1999 Toyota being driven by Carolyn Haskins of North Judson.

01/13/10 The Dollar General requested the North Judson Police for a shoplifter in the store. North Judson Officer Joe Budner responded and arrested Michelle M. Riley of Culver for Conversion.

01/09/11 A man reported that his home was broken into and his ex-wife’s things missing.

01/09/11 A resident reported an X-Box and games stolen.

01/08/11 A resident in Salem Township called police to report that someone banged on his door and then ran from the residence. The resident saw someone running down the alley and tried to follow the suspect but did not see anyone. The resident requested extra patrol.

01/07/11 A resident in Cass Township reported the theft of metal, copper, windows, and electric motors.

01/06/11 A caller in Rich Grove Township called police to report three people were banging on the side of his trailer. The suspects moved out by his car while he was on the phone with dispatch. The caller requested extra patrol.

01/06/11 A resident reported a vehicle fire across from the Wems Station.

01/06/11 A resident in Indian Township called the Sheriff’s Department to say that she had slid off the road into a field. She said a car was coming at her and was across the yellow line. She had to move over which caused her to crash. She complained of pain in her knees and she thought she felt and heard her neck snap.

01/06/11 A caller in Rich Grove Township reported damage to her mailbox. This is the second incident in a week. She had just put up a new mailbox and vandals damaged it.

01/09/11 Victoria Clemons reported the theft of her wallet and food items from her refrigerator.

01/08/11 Two people were involved in a verbal altercation in front of the bike shop on Main Street. Shane Thomas allegedly broke out a window at the bike shop after threatening to fight with another individual. After he allegedly broke the window, he ran into Mikey’s Pizza Pit Stop. He was later questioned by police. He suffered a laceration on his hand.

01/08/11 Tonya Stacy called police to report that the rear window of a vehicle shattered as she was at the Henry F. Schricker Public Library. The vehicle belonged to Malvanie Clemons.

01/05/11 Dawn Hurt reported the theft of a camera, gloves, a stereo, cell phone, recorder, CDs, jeans and t-shirts. There is a possible suspect in this case.

01/04/11 Teresa Smith reported that the dollar change machine at Knox Garden Courts had been broken into. Police found pry marks on the machine near the key hole. An unknown amount of cash was stolen.

01/04/11 Annetta Hale reported that someone was opening and closing her screen door. She requested extra patrol.

01/08/11 A resident in the 7500 block of 800 S. in North Judson reported that the resident’s mailbox was smashed. The mail had been taken out of the box and opened.

01/08/11 A vehicle was reported in a ditch and damage done to the field owned by James Beron.

01/07/11 Lisa Branson reported her Allied Waste garbage can stolen.

01/06/11 Margaret Johnson in San Pierre reported her mailbox was damaged.

01/06/11 Mike Hayes of Grovertown told police that an air compressor was taken from his property.

01/05/11 Tammy Barbknect reported a break-in at her residence. She said nothing was taken from the property, but damage was done to both doors.

01/05/11 A citizen reported a possible portable meth lab on 1150 East on the west side of the road.

01/09/11 Michael Murphy, 36, of Knox was arrested on preliminary charges of Domestic Battery (three counts), Interference with the Reporting of a Crime and Resisting Law Enforcement.

01/07/11 Brian Hurt, 32, was arrested on preliminary charges of Resisting Law Enforcement and Public Intoxication. He was also wanted on an active warrant.

Incidents:
01/07/10 The North Judson Dollar General requested the police for a shoplifter in the store. North Judson police conducted an investigation and determined a 42 year old female was being charged with Conversion. Due to the suspect caring for a sick relative at home, Officer Joe Budner long formed the suspect and requests that the Starke County Prosecutor’s Office summons her to court.

01/06/10 North Judson Police investigated a property damage only accident in the parking lot of the Family Express. Sean M Walls of North Judson was pulling into the lot and slid on some snow and ice causing his vehicle to strike another vehicle being driven by Ellen Berg also of North Judson. Police Chief Doug Vessely estimated the damages at over $1,000 and no injuries were reported.

01/06/10 North Judson Police conducted a traffic stop on State Road 10 near 300 West and had the driver flee the vehicle on foot. North Judson Office Mat Anderson and Starke County K9 Officer James Upsall and his dog, Fritz, searched the area. It was determined another vehicle picked up the driver. A full report has been filed with the Starke County Prosecutors Office requesting charges on the 21 year old male driver.

Incidents:
01/03/11 Robert Stevenson reported a possible fraud to the City Police. A creditor claimed he owed on an electric bill in Forest Park, Illinois from 2007 until the early part of 2008 and he hasn’t lived in Illinois since 2006. If anyone else experiences this type of fraud, or any other non-approved financial discrepancies, call local law enforcement.

12/31/10 Whitney Minix reported the theft of her purse. The purse was reportedly taken from her vehicle. The purse was later found on the ground by the railroad tracks just east of Bower Street. Her debit card and nursing license were stolen from her purse.

12/31/10 The owner of 1st Choice Pawn and Loan Shop found a broken window on the north side of the business. Some unknown suspect(s) threw a railroad rock through the window.

12/29/10 Ricky Sanders reported that his Craftsman air compressor was stolen out of his garage. Jeff Nelson reported that his Mr. Heater forced air propane heater was stolen from his garage.

12/29/10 A Next Door Food Store employee reported the theft of gasoline in the amount of $56.03.

12/28/10 Don Harridon reported two windows broken out of a home at 410 E. New York Street in Knox.

01/02/11 Kenneth Kaemerer of North Judson reported his 2004 gold-colored F250 stolen. The vehicle had Best Choice Builders signs on it.

12/31/10 A resident in the 1900 block of W. 250 S. in North Judson reported that her children were walking their dog when a reckless driver drove by and hit the dog, killing it. The driver also reportedly hit the neighbor’s garage and left the scene.

12/31/10 A resident in the 1500 block of W. 450 S. in North Judson reported the theft of a guitar.

12/31/10 Josh Cook reported that rims, tires, a stereo and seats were stolen from a van parked behind the Grovertown Truck Stop.

12/29/10 David Stanley in the 11200 block of E. Circle Avenue in Walkerton reported hearing automatic weapons being fired in the area.

12/28/10 Mike Singleton reported that some unknown suspect(s) broke into his brother’s semi trailer.

01/02/11 Eric Lovely, 30, arrested on preliminary charges of Criminal Confinement, a Class D Felony; Domestic Battery, a Class A Misdemeanor and Strangulation, a Class D Felony.

Incidents:
12/31/10 North Judson Police were requested to assist the Starke County Community Corrections team on New Years Eve while they were conducting a home inspection. After checking on a detainee in the 5900 block of U-road, officers made a discovery of an active Methamphetamine Lab. North Judson Officer, Mat Anderson, requested the Indiana State Police Clandestine Team to assist in the investigation. Starke County Community Corrections Officers, North Judson Police, Starke County Sheriff’s Department, and the Indiana State Police conducted the investigation. Officer Anderson arrested Joseph Giselbach, 31, of Ora, Indiana and charged him with Possession of Methamphetamine and Manufacturing of Methamphetamine, both felonies. He also arrested Amber Rae Bottorff, 21, 5907 S. U-Road, for Manufacturing of Methamphetamine and Maintaining a Common Nuisance. Community Corrections charged Cheyenne Tolson, 20, of the U-road address, with violation of terms with Community Corrections. All three were transported to the Starke County Jail pending formal charges through the Starke County Prosecutor’s Office. North Judson Police Chief Doug Vessely stated this was the second meth lab taken down by our Department in the past five weeks and the fourth for the year. He commended the officers involved.

01/01/11 A resident called police to complain that someone was shooting guns and it sounds like a shotgun. Police determined that fireworks were being discharged from the other end of Main Street.

12/31/10 A resident reported an attempted break-in in a co-worker’s vehicle. Nothing was reported stolen. A window in the vehicle had been broken out and a piece of plastic was in its place. The suspect had torn the plastic to gain entry into the vehicle.

12/31/10 A resident reported that two subjects broke out the windows in her daughter’s trailer.

12/30/10 A resident called police to report a theft. The resident was in his vehicle and he had $1,500 in cash on his lap. The passenger grabbed the money and took off. The man ran into a field behind his house. He later reported that the man was threatening his life. The man was later apprehended in a corn field.

12/29/10 An officer investigated a possible break in at a residence in Harris Township.

12/29/10 A resident reported snowmobilers had damaged the flag pole in the park.

12/29/10 An officer was flagged down to report a suspicious person in a vehicle. Upon investigation, the man told police he is a private investigator and became irate that the officer was asking about his presence at that location.

12/28/10 Police were called to the Family Dollar parking lot in reference to a minor vehicle accident. Witnesses told police that Glenna Smith of Knox was attempting to enter a parking space. The right side of Smith’s vehicle reportedly struck the rear bumper of a parked vehicle on the left side and damaged the vehicle. Witnesses stated that Smith backed from the space and drove to the north end of the parking lot and parked. She then exited the vehicle and walked into the store. Smith has pending charges of Driving While Suspended and Leaving the Scene of an Accident.

12/27/10 Police were called to Wythogan Park. Two people were walking on the walking path in Wythogan Park and when they stopped under the walking bridge, they discovered several pinkish colored pills over the wall and near the water. The officer investigated and found approximately 400 to 500 pink colored pills laying in the snow and ice near the river. The officer secured the medication, which was classified as a Schedule 4 Drug.

12/23/10 – North Judson Police responded to a welfare check in the 200 Block of West Weninger Street around 9:30 am. Police located the estranged wife of Stephen Lewis, 36, of 206 W. Weninger Street. The woman had been battered by her husband and after a short investigation Stephen B. Lewis was arrested and taken to the Starke County Jail and charges with Domestic Battery, Battery wife serious Bodily Injury, and Invasion of Privacy for Violation of a Protective Order. North Judson Officer, Mathew Anderson, and Starke County Sheriff Deputy, Don Ferguson, responded to the incident as well as North Judson Police Chief Doug Vessely.

12/27/10 – Shortly after 2:00 a.m., North Judson Police were called to the 600 Block of Arlington Avenue to investigate a Battery. It is believed a stepson came to the residence and battered his stepfather. North Judson Officer Joe Budner investigated and provided a complete report to the Starke County Prosecutor’s Office requesting Battery charges on the stepson.

12/26 Dawn Wilson of Hamlet reported an unwanted subject in her home. Officers arrived and Jody Spicer voluntarily left.

12/25/10 Jamin Keeton of Hamlet reported his wife’s ex-husband, Randy Rowe, had pulled a han gun on his wife and him in LaPorte County and attempted to fire the weapon several times but the weapon would not fire. Jamin stated that he was on his way home to Hamlet and he believed Randy may come there. Hamlet Officers waited for Randy at Jamin’s residence but Randy did not show up. Laporte County was also looking for Randy.

12/23/10 Bruce Johnson reported a reckless driver westbound from Starke Street.

12/18/10 Virginia Clemons told police that when she arrived home that day, she noticed the front door open and she knew she locked the door before she left for the day. Nothing was found missing until the day after the incident. She told police money was stolen from her wallet.

12/16/10 Cody Foust reported his bank card was stolen and charges were made to his account.

Edward A. Dudek III, 29, 6135 E. 100 N., Knox, IN, arrested on a preliminary charge of Possession of Chemical Agents or Precursors.
Police pulled over Dudek III after police found he was driving his vehicle at a slow rate of speed and he was turning his flashers on and off. Police searched the vehicle and found several containers of cold medicine that contain pseudoephedrine and a red gas can with a hose clamped to it.

Accidents:
12/15/10 Corey Stacy was driving on State Road 39 and entered the northbound traffic lane when his vehicle began to slide on the ice. He was in the path of travel of a vehicle driven by Brandi Pitts and could not avoid a collision. Pitts was transported to Starke Memorial Hospital with leg and chest pains.

12/17/10 Elena Daneska advised police she was driving her car on State Road 39, south of State Road 8, when her car began to slide. She lost control and went into a ditch filled with water. Her car was filling with water and she was unable to get either door open in order for her to exit the vehicle. She said she finally got the window open and got out onto the top of the vehicle. She was taken to Starke Memorial Hospital for minor injuries. When police talked to Daneska, they reportedly smelled alcohol on her breath. Her blood was drawn at the hospital where her blood alcohol content registered at .71%.

Several vehicle slide-off reports were taken by the Starke County Sheriff’s Department during the recent snow events, and luckily, there were no serious injuries reported.

12/11/10  David Griffith reported his 200 pound steel anvil stolen from his front porch.

12/11/10  Clerk-Treasurer Jeff Houston requested an officer at the Knox Community Center to make a police report about damage done to the Community Center after a Saturday event.  Approximately 25 tables were damaged, and 112 chairs were damaged.  The chairs were bent with the covers torn.  Several areas of carpeting were observed to have stains or a strong odor of alcoholic beverages.  The door leading to the storage area had a large dent and a black scuff mark.

12/10/10  An employee at the Marathon gas station reported a drive-off of $19.48.

12/09/10  Estella Perez, 29, 4895 E. 150 N., Knox, IN, cited for Operator Never Licensed.

12/06/10  Hank Minix, owner of 1st Choice Pawn, reported the southeast window of the overhead garage door at the business to be broken and the southwest window broken near the front of the store.  No inventory was reported stolen.  A large rock was found near the cash register.

12/04/10  Police pulled over Amber Louise Nies Rhodes, 22, for driving the wrong way on US 35.  She was driving north in the southbound lane by the bridge.  The reporting officer could smell a strong odor of alcohol coming from inside the vehicle.  An open container was found in the car by police.  Police noticed she had vomited on herself and in the interior of the vehicle.  When asked to step out of the vehicle, she had trouble opening the car door and getting out of the vehicle.  She was taken to the Starke County jail where a female dispatcher had to help the officer get her out of the vehicle.  She refused to take a chemical test when asked by the offier.  Due to the nature of her health, as she vomited in the police car, she was taken to Starke Memorial Hospital.  Preliminary blood results showed her BAC at .210%.  She has charges pending.

12/03/10  Trinidad Resendez told police that when we was dropped off at her residence by friends, she found the back door to be open and the door jam broken.  She called her friends and they came back to help check out the house and see if anyone was in the residence.  No one was in the residence.  Trinidad then looked around the residence and found nothing missing.  Joseph Hoffer told police that he found a person jumping the privacy fence in the back yard.  He chased him but was unable to catch him.

12/02/10  Diana Soto reported to police the theft of a flat panel TV and an XBox 360 arcade system.

12/01/10  Galen Howard reported two firearms stolen from his room at the Super Value Inn.  Howard later found out who stole the firearms.  He bought one rifle back from a different subject.  The investigation into this case continues by the Knox City Police Department.

Brian Derby, 19, 2548 Laurel Ct., Dyer, IN, arrested on preliminary charges of Illegal Possession of Alcohol and Leaving the Scene of an Accident.  Steven Soto allegedly ran into a mailbox and a tree at 2560 E. 150 S. in Knox.  Raquel Anderson told police that a car matching the description of Soto’s vehicle hit the mailbox and tree on her property.

11/23/10 Tammy Small reported that she was shopping at Five Star and put her bags into her car. She pulled away from the parking lot and realized she forgot her purse in the cart. She returned to retrieve her purse but it was gone.

11/23/10 Tricia Jackson reported her cell phone and $20 in cash stolen from her vehicle while it was parked at the Next Door Food Store in Knox.

11/22/10 Knox Community School Transportation Director, Mark Jensen, reported that some unknown person(s) knocked down a portion of split rail fence along the bus garage road, just outside of the chain link fence area. The unknown person(s) then went back to the area where a 1991 Ford F350 school van was parked and they reportedly broke out a passenger side window. Police noted that it appeared that rocks were thrown at this van and broke the window. The action also put dents in the vehicle and chipped the paint.

Incidents:
11/29/10 Brian Soaler of North Judson reported that some unknown person(s) pried open his front door. He told police that he didn’t think anything was taken.

11/29/10 John Jeffers of Hamlet reported that a person is in his backyard in a white hoodie was messing with the electrical box.

11/28/10 Officers were called to the Grovertown Truck Stop to investigate an allegation that parents might be under the influence and yelling at the kids.

11/28/10 Rodney Jagnecki on Fisher Street in Knox told police that he heard gunshots north of his residence.

11/27/10 Osborne’s Mini Mart called police regarding a possible shoplifter in the store. Upon investigating, the person did not steal anything and was asked to leave.

11/26/10 Elizabeth Beauchamp called police to report a license plate stolen from her vehicle while she was in Bailey’s Discount Center.

11/24/10 A caller advised police that a possible meth lab dump site was located on 100 North, west of 800 East on the north side of the road. The contents were in white garbage bags.

11/23/10 Jason Maroules reported that his two dogs were stolen from his residence and taken to the Starke County Humane Society. He also reported that this was not the first time this had happened.

Accidents:
11/28/10 Joseph Palm of Knox hit a deer while driving north on US 35 by 810 South in Starke County. As a result, his vehicle went off the road and into a pond. He and his passenger exited the vehicle before it sank into the pond.

Incidents:
11/18/10  An employee at Cambe Chevrolet reported a vehicle missing from the parking lot.  Knox police talked with Greg Rudd who stated that the 2010 Chevy 1500 Silverado, two door, red pickup was parked in the south parking lot and was last observed on the property on November 17th.  The vehicle had no license plate and the truck had 900 miles on it.  It was listed in new condition.

11/17/10  David and Traci Frazier reported vandalism to their vehicle.  The front passenger window was broken and Traci’s wallet was missing from the glove box.

11/16/10  Keith Berndt reported a hit and run.  Berndt told police that he was cutting hair at his shop and heard a loud bang.  He saw that a vehicle just backed into his parked vehicle.  A tail light and lens from the unknown vehicle was spotted in the roadway.  The vehicle was gold in color.

Garrison and Heath were arrested after a Walgreens employee saw them in the store and have allegedly stole items from the store in the past.  The police were called and the pair were questioned by police outside of the business and a search on their vehicle allegedly used in the manufacture of methamphetamine and controlled substances.  Michael Mann was arrested after it was said that the pseudoephedrine that was purchased at the store was to be used in the alleged manufacture of methamphetamine by Mann.

11/14/10 Tammora M. Shei, 45, 601 S. Heaton St., Knox, IN, arrested on a preliminary charge of Conversion.

11/22/10  Michelle Romine reported the theft of a dirtbike from her residence in North Judson.

11/22/10  A U-Haul trailer was reported stolen from a business in the 3800 block of E. 275 S. in Knox.

11/22/10  A resident reported the break in of her pole barn and tools were stolen.  The incident occurred in the 4900 block of E. 150 N. in Knox.

11/21/10  A resident in the 300 block of Star Court in Knox reported the theft of a winning lottery ticket worth $20.

11/21/10  A resident in the 3200 block of W. 800 S in North Judson reported the front door kicked in at the residence.

11/20/10  A resident in the 4600 block of S. US 35 in Knox reported that she was going to get her outside dogs in the house and a person driving a pickup truck stopped and took a dog.  The dog is a black and white Corgi with a black collar.

11/19/10  A resident called police to report that two male subjects were reportedly stealing copper wire from an electrical box at the southwest corner of State Road 23 and US 30.

11/18/10  A resident in the 3100 block of S. 100 W. in North Judson reported the theft of rings and other jewelry.

11/17/10  A resident in the 5200 block of W. 100 N. in Knox reported unknown person(s) stole a 30 gallon garbage can.

11/16/10  A resident in the 200 block of S. 1025 E. in Knox reported some unknown persons shooting at his shed.

  • 11/15/10 At 4.54Pm Mondaya vehicle driven by James P. Langdon, 306 Star Court, Knox was driving south bound on US 35 in front of the Zingo gas station and turned left in front of a vehicle driven by by Shawna K. Ard of 5406 S. A. Street, No. Judson.  Langdon stated to police that he was looking ahead to see what pumps were available and did not see the Ard vehicle.  A 14 month old infant in the back seat of the Ard vehicle was transported to Starke Memorial Hospital for observation.  Estimate of damages were five to ten thousand dollars.
  • 11/14/10 Justin Lee Joseph, 6 No. Prettyman St., Knox reported an attempted breaking and entering at his residence.
  • 11/10/10 Next Door Foods US 35, Knox reported an unknown person drove off without paying for gasoline.  Suspect was not located.
  • 11/09/10 Tom Raderstorff reported to KCP that he was watching Tom Belcher’s house on Main St. in Knox while Mr. Belcher was out of town  and discovered that a back door to the home had been kicked in and a television, alcoholic beverages and money had been removed from the residence.  No arrests have been made.
  • 11/09/10 John and Clayton Poindexter reported to KCP that a brown rottweiler dog had damaged the exterior of a vehicle owned by them.  The owner of the dog has not been identified.
  • 11/09/10 Howard Phillip 904 East Washington St., Knox reported receiving a harassment type phone call.  He has given the caller ID information to the police.
  • 11/09/10 Mitchell G. Dowd 1378 So. 550, Knox reported a fraudulent transaction on his 1st Source debit card.  The fraudulent charge was initiated in Norway and involve a $426.00 dollar transaction.

Starke County Police News

  • Starke County Police report there have been over 20 deer and car accidents since the 1st of November and would like to remind drivers to be especially careful while driving at night.
  • 11/15/10 Thomas Skibbe, Knox has been arrested on attempted auto theft and attempted burglary charges
  • 11/14/10 Maulik Shah 603 Anchor Ct., Monticello lost control of his 2006 Toyota passenger vehicle striking a guard rail on SR #23.  Shah admitted to traveling at a high rate of speed causing him to lose control of his vehicle.  Damage estimate $2,500.00 to $5,000.00.
  • 11/13/10 Starke County Police responded to the intersection of SR#23 and US 30 based on a 911 call reporting a male running in and out of traffic screaming at motorists as they drove by.  Shortly thereafter a crashed vehicle was discovered wrecked at the intersection of 500NO. and SR#23.  A vehicle check was issued and the registration came back to a Wade Karl Berg.  A witness nearby reported that as police cars came upon the scene they saw a man running from the crash scene into a nearby woods.  The man has not been located.  The vehicle has been impounded and held for further investigation.
  • 11/10/10 Judy Singleton 3155 No. 900 East, Grovertown reported hearing gunshots being fired near her home and the Starke Co. Police Department  responded arresting Eric Scott of 504 No. Starke St. Hamlet for possession of a controlled substance and possession of marijuana with a prior.
