Derrick and Abbie Stalbaum are seeking a property tax abatement for a facility they’re building on County Road 1050 West in Rich Grove Township. Winamac Council to Discuss 2021 Budget, Consider Almost $250,000 in Additional Appropriations

The Winamac Town Council will get an update on the town’s financial outlook for 2021, while also considering additional appropriations of close to $250,000, during a series of meetings tonight. Eric Walsh with accounting firm Baker Tilly has been monitoring the potential impact of COVID-19 on funding availability for next year’s budget. Clerk-Treasurer Melanie Berger recently told council members that Walsh may discuss the possibility of an excess levy appeal, as well as the impact of the income tax changes recently approved by the Pulaski County Council.

Knox City Council to Consider Budget Adjustment, Tax Abatement Compliance Forms

A few budget adjustments will be up for the Knox City Council’s approval tonight. Council members will consider granting permission for more money to be spent out of the cumulative sewer treatment fund, as well as for appropriations to be transferred within that fund. A reduction of appropriations in this year’s general, motor vehicle highway, and park funds for the 2021 budget will also be up for approval. Residents will have a chance to weigh in on those proposed changes before the council votes on them.

Pulaski Council, Commissioners to Continue Discussing Courthouse Security, Renovations

Security at the Pulaski County Courthouse will continue to be discussed by the county council and commissioners tonight. The commissioners have limited access to a single point of entry which now will be renovated by local locksmiths 365 professionals to grant easier access and also called for the addition of security guards.

Pulaski County Council Considers Appropriating Funds for Ambulance Garage Expansion

The Pulaski County Council is moving ahead with funding arrangements for the Winamac ambulance garage. EMS Director Brandon DeLorenzo reminded the county council last week that $135,000 had been budgeted for the work in 2019, but the year ended before he was able to spend much of it, since the actual construction got pushed back to this year.

Pulaski County Council to Continue Discussing Courthouse Renovation Tonight

The proposed renovation of the Pulaski County Courthouse and expansion of the Justice Center will continue to be discussed during tonight’s county council meeting. The estimated $7.7 million project would add a security checkpoint to the north entrance of the courthouse, while Circuit Court would move out of the building and into an expanded Justice Center.
