The City of Knox hopes to leverage matching grant money from the state to complete up to five road improvement projects. Mayor Dennis Estok told the city council last night each is a separate proposal on the application that’s being submitted to the Indiana Department of Transportation. The state awarded one-time Local Option Income Tax distributions to cities, towns and counties, on the condition that 75 percent of that money must be used for infrastructure improvements. Culver to Contact INDOT for SR 10 Speed Reduction
State Road 10 in Culver may see its speed limit reduced, but the change may take up to one year.
The Culver Town Council on Tuesday night considered a request from the Plan Commission to reduce the speed limit on the state highway. No specifics were introduced, but Police Chief Wayne Bean says lowering the speed limit from 45 mph to 35 mph may be appropriate.

INDOT Travel Status Update
As of 9am Central Time 10am Eastern Time: Snow has tapered off and winds are starting to subside. Snow on the ground is very wet and heavy and is packing on many secondary roadways. In Lake, Porter, Jasper, Laporte, Marshall and Fulton Counties, many east/west secondary roads are impassable due to the heavy, wet snow and snow drifts. Also some secondary roads are completely closed in sections due to disabled vehicles. Snowfall totals range from 8”-20” in the district. Primary roads, to include Interstates are in decent to fair shape, mainly wet to slushy. Secondary roads are slushy to snow covered and will need attention most of the day. Continue reading

They advise moderate to heavy drifting is occurring in rural areas due to gusty winds. Lake effect snow is also falling in Porter, LaPorte and St. Joseph Counties.
