Don’t Miss Winamac’s Winter Wonderland Event

The annual Winamac Winter Wonderland event kicks-off today with Breakfast with Santa at the Pulaski County Elementary School. Various vendor booths will also be set up there from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. ET.

Pulaski County Chamber of Commerce representative Judy Heater explained that some of the vendors will have baked goods and additional types of food while others will feature different kinds of crafts. The Indiana Adoption Program will also have a booth set up where individuals can learn more about Hoosier kids in need of homes and the specifics of the adoption process.

Heater said that the ExPress Choir will sing at courthouse around 10 a.m. and then they’ll head over to the Pulaski County Public Library to join Judge Michael Shurn for cookies and cocoa. Security Plan to be Developed for Pulaski County Courthouse

 
 

Pulaski County Circuit Court Judge Michael Shurn discussed the development of a security plan for the safety of those in the courthouse during business hours.

It has been suggested that a security plan be put in place. Judge Shurn told the commissioners that he will soon be putting together a plan in order to not only keep his court secure, but protect the visiting citizens as well.

Pulaski County Officials To Be Sworn In Soon

A swearing-in ceremony for Pulaski County elected officials will be held Wednesday, December 19 at 4:30 p.m. ET.

The ceremony is slated to take place in the commissioners meeting room on the second floor of the courthouse. All elected officials are encouraged to attend and officially be sworn into office. Pulaski County Circuit Court Judge Michael Shurn and Pulaski Superior Court Judge Pat Blankenship will administer the oaths of office.

Pulaski County Officials to be Sworn into Office on Thursday

All newly elected officials in Pulaski County will be sworn into office on Thursday, December 15th, at 4:30 p.m. ET, at the Pulaski County Courthouse.

Pulaski County Circuit Court Judge Michael Shurn and Pulaski County Superior Court Judge Patrick Blankenship will administer the oaths. You are invited to witness the event that will be held in the Commissioners’ Meeting Room on the second floor of the Courthouse.

Pulaski County Circuit Court Judge Named H.J. Halleck Award Winner

Last week we announced that Michael Shurn, the Circuit Court Judge in Pulaski County, was named the H.J. Halleck Award winner for 2011.

One of Judge Shurn’s special interests has been scouting. We asked him if he has always been interested in youth activities.

“Not really, I was involved in youth activities, I guess, from just following my children around and then when I became Judge, I have so many juvenile cases that it was sort of a natural fit to continue on in scouts. My son went all the way through so I just stayed there.”

Stuart Gast to be Laid to Rest Today

The Town of Winamac says goodbye to one of it’s favorite sons today. Attorney Stuart Gast, who passed away at 98 Sunday, will be laid to rest following services at Frain Mortuary.

Yesterday evening his fellow Kiwanians said goodbye in an joyful service that saw many of them reminisce about their friend. Gast was a member of the club for 72 years. Our own Ted Hayes was honored to be Master of Ceremonies at the service. Pulaski County Circuit Court Judge Michael Shurn, who was hired as a law partner of Mr. Gast, spoke about him as the perfect mentor.

2011 H.J. Halleck Award Winner Named

Pulaski County Circuit Court Judge Michael Shurn

Congratulations to Pulaski County Circuit Judge Michael Shurn of Winamac. In balloting yesterday, Judge Shurn was selected as the 2011 H.J. Halleck award winner in Pulaski County.

Judge Shurn lives in Pulaski County with his wife, Mary, and is the father of two children. He will be honored during a ceremony February 24th at the Moss Creek Country Club.
