Since Pulaski County won’t have to hold a primary election this year, a resolution saying how much money the county will save will be up for approval tonight. The county election board is expected to consider the resolution when it meets tonight at 5:30 EDT. The resolution would then go to the county commissioners at their 6:00 p.m. meeting. Both meetings will be held in the Pulaski County Courthouse.

Pulaski County will not be holding a primary election this May, due to a lack of contested races. The county election board made it official Thursday, by formally approving a motion not to have a primary this year. Clerk JoLynn Behny explained, “The only two municipalities that are having elections are the Town of Medaryville – and they have no contested seats, and nobody is running for Medaryville town clerk – and the Town of Monterey has chosen to have a convention.”

Pulaski Commissioners to Discuss Campaign Sign Regulations, Open Paving, Dump Truck Bids
The Pulaski County Commissioners will once again consider repealing the county’s campaign sign regulations when they meet this morning. The commissioners and the advisory plan commission have been discussing removing the “special signs” portion of the county’s Unified Development Ordinance since April, since election board members felt there were already enough rules at the state and federal level.
Pulaski County Election Board Certifies General Election Results
Pulaski County’s General Election results were officially certified by the county election board last week. Lynn Wilder with the Clerk’s Office says the process is mainly a formality, since the necessary paperwork had already been submitted to the state. As part of the certification process, Wilder says the board members signed a printout of the election results, which then has to be kept in the county’s records for a certain period of time.
Pulaski County Election Board Finalizes Fines for Late Campaign Finance Reports
Some Pulaski County candidates who failed to turn in pre-election campaign finance reports by October 19 will not be fined. The Democrat Central Committee, Coroner John Behny, former Circuit Court judge candidate Tim Murray, and former county council candidate Doug Roth all failed to turn in their reports by the noon deadline.

The Pulaski County Travel Board will be at two Winamac Locations Today
In order to ensure that all citizens have a fair chance to cast a vote, the Pulaski County Travel Board is making some stops around the county prior to Election Day.

Pulaski County Election Board Members Approve Legal Notices, Finalize Food Plans for Election Day
Pulaski County Election Board members were required to approve a few legal notices when they met Monday afternoon.
Both notices appeared in the paper by the required deadline. One of the notices provided the voting location and the other was an example of the full ballot that voters will see on Election Day. With a unanimous vote, members approved the notices.

Pulaski County Candidates Who Filed Late Financial Reports Have a Chance to Appeal Their Fine
Pulaski County candidates who filed their financial reports after the deadline will have a chance to appeal their fine next month.
State statute stipulates that candidates had to have their campaign finance reports turned into the county clerk’s office by noon on October 19th. Candidates who filed late are charged $50 a day starting at 12:01 p.m. They can be charged a maximum of $1,000. Continue reading

Anyone who plans to work the polls on Election Day is required by state law to attend training beforehand.

Members generally agreed to the change back in April, but hadn’t taken a formal vote.
Pulaski County Election Board Sets Early Voting Hours for General Election
The Pulaski County Election Board has set early voting hours, ahead of November’s General Election. The early voting period runs from October 10 through November 5. During that time, in-person absentee voting will take place Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and 1:30 to 4:00 p.m. EDT at the Pulaski County Justice Center in Winamac.
