The West Central School Board members considered the purchase of new doors at the elementary school.
Superintendent Dan Zylstra said the purchase is over $200,000, but a Secured School Safety grant award in the amount of $100,000 will be used toward the claim.
He stated in a previous meeting that the classroom doors are original to the building. Some doors will be keyed differently to secure different parts of the building and the grant funds will also help with that cost.
The school board unanimously approved the requisition as presented.
The board also unanimously approved the renewal of computer licenses as listed in the requisitions list.

Applications for Secured School Safety Grants Now Being Accepted
School corporation officials are now able to apply for Secured School Safety Grants.
This is the second opportunity to apply for matching grant money to help employ a resource officer, conduct a threat assessment, and/or purchase equipment to restrict access to the school or expedite the notification of first responders.
West Central Schools Receive Secured School Safety Grant
The West Central School Board members received word last week that the school corporation was the recipient of a Secured School Safety grant.
Superintendent Charles Mellon commented that Safety Director Chuck Evans worked hard to make sure the grant was completed properly and on time to be considered for this grant. The grant, totaling just over $26,000, will be used to upgrade security in the entryways to all of the schools.
West Central Submits Application for Secured School Safety Grant
The West Central School Board was notified during their meeting last week that the application for the Secured School Safety Grant.
Superintendent Charles Mellon commented that Safety Director Chuck Evans did the work on the grant which was sent to the School Security Commission in Pulaski County.
