Bridge 59 on Starke County Road 700 S. over Bogus Run will be replaced in the next few years thanks to $444,000 in federal transportation funds awarded to Starke County. The recipients of the fall round of Community Crossings grants were announced by the Indiana Department of Transportation Tuesday. The program covers 50 or 75 percent of the cost of qualifying road and bridge projects.

The Town of Hamlet is moving forward with a grant application for future upgrades to Indiana Avenue/Starke County Road 500 North.
