More details are being released in the shooting death of a Starke County man on Thanksgiving Day. Starke County Police say it was Randall Bailey’s 75th birthday, when he was shot to death by his wife’s nephew, James Campbell, 52.

Police Respond to Possible Burglary, Reportedly Find Meth, Pills Instead

A report of a possible burglary reportedly led to the discovery of methamphetamine Sunday morning.

Starke County Police say they, along with Hamlet and Walkerton police, responded to a possible burglary in progress call at around 6:30 a.m. Officers say that when they got there, they determined that no burglary took place, but they did find methamphetamine, prescription pills, syringes, and paraphernalia.

Knox School Corporation Looking to Partner with City to Add School Resource Officer

The Knox Community School Corporation is still looking for ways to add a school resource officer, even after the Starke County Sheriff’s Department was unable to secure funding. During Tuesday’s school board meeting, Superintendent Dr. William Reichhart said he and other school officials are now exploring whether the City of Knox could step in.  Continue reading
