The Pulaski Coroner’s Office released information Sunday afternoon from the autopsy and a toxicology test performed on a victim found in a house fire in Medaryville.
Investigation into Death of Barbara McCurdy Still Ongoing
Local officials continue to investigate the death of 37-year-old Knox resident Barbara McCurdy.
A missing person report was filed for McCurdy on January 20th. She was reportedly last seen in Knox on January 14th, driving a black 2006 Chevy Cobalt. She was found deceased in her vehicle at Braun Chevrolet in Winamac on Friday, February 2nd. Continue reading
Toxicology and Autopsy Results for Barbara McCurdy Pending with Pulaski County Coroner
Information about the cause of Barb McCurdy’s death is pending with the Pulaski County Coroner’s office.
Coroner John Behny reports that the only preliminary information available at this time is that she has been positively identified and the next of kin has been notified. ISDH Begins Toxicology Pilot Program to Improve Coroner Consistency in the State
The Center for Disease control said that Indiana is one of the three worst states for overdose fatality reports because of inconsistencies in the way coroners test and fill out death certificates. In an effort to improve that reporting, the Indiana State Department of Health’s Division of Trauma and Injury Prevention launched a toxicology pilot program that works with coroners and allows them to order either a basic or more comprehensive panel.
