Winamac Park Board Discusses Continued Tree Removal, Pay Raise for Secretary

The removal of dying ash trees continues to be a concern for the Winamac Park Board, as it puts together its 2018 budget. Park Manager Dave DeLorenzo estimates about 75 ash trees remain at the town park. He told the park board Monday that about six of those will soon have to be cut down by a contractor. Many of those are in danger of falling on shelters.

Winamac Park Board Votes to Allow Vendors in Town Park

Vendors may now set up shop in the Winamac Town Park. The Winamac Park Board approved a resolution Monday that allows vendors and establishes some guidelines. Anyone selling items in the park will have to provide proof of insurance to the town. Park Board President Courtney Poor also requested that vendors tell the town in advance when and where they’d like to operate.

Winamac Park Board Seeks Public Input on Veterans Memorial Park Upgrades

The Winamac Park Board is looking for the public’s input on proposed upgrades to Veterans Memorial Park. Board members have been considering the addition of a decorative archway, and the VFW and American Legion have each offered to donate a bench. On top of that, the American Legion has offered to place its cannon in the park, should it decide to sell its current building.

Winamac Park Board Updates Residents on Pool Grant Application

The Winamac Park Board is moving ahead with a grant application for the town’s swimming pool rebuilding project. The town’s applying for up to $200,000 in matching money from the federal Land and Water Conservation Fund through the Indiana Department of Natural Resources. Before turning in the grant application, the park board held a public hearing Monday to give residents a chance to weigh in on the project. Continue reading
