Engineer Works Pro Bono to Create Multi-Phase Project Proposal for Town of Winamac

A multi-phase project that could include a splash pad, a pool, and a perimeter path was presented to Winamac officials and residents Wednesday afternoon.

Members of the Winamac Town Council and Park Board, as well as representatives from the Pool Committee and Pulaski County Wellness Center gathered at the Utilities Complex to hear a presentation from Engineer Jason Miller.

Winamac Park Board Approves Bridge Inspection Agreement, Chooses Portable Toilet Supplier

The Winamac Park Board has approved an agreement for the inspection of the Town Park’s “swinging bridge.” Indianapolis engineering firm Butler, Fairman & Seufert will do the work for $6,500. That’s a bit more than it cost during the last inspection cycle. During Thursday’s meeting, board member and town manager Brad Zellers said the difference is that this inspection will include a check for lead paint.

Winamac Park Board Prepares to Rebid Restroom Project, Following Funding Delays

The Winamac Park Board is almost ready to get construction bids for new restrooms in the Town Park, but town officials will have to work around some scheduling constraints. Last year, the park board was awarded a Land and Water Conservation Fund grant to help with the cost, but as of last week, the paperwork still hadn’t been finalized, according to Park Board Secretary Kim Burke.

Winamac Park Board to Hear Presentation on Potential Swinging Bridge Lighting Feature Tonight

A presentation on a proposed lighting feature for the Winamac Town Park’s swinging bridge will be given during tonight’s park board meeting. A representative from Associated Controls + Design of Indianapolis is scheduled to discuss some of the possibilities. Local residents have been spearheading the effort, to commemorate the Memorial Bridge’s centennial in 2023.

Winamac Park Board Considers Replacing Dead Ash Trees

After years of removing dying ash trees from the Winamac Town Park, park officials are now beginning to look into replacing them.

Park Manager Dave DeLorenzo brought the issue to the park board Thursday.

He estimated that 90 to 95 trees have been lost to the emerald ash borer, although there are some that remain. He asked the park board about working with the Tree Committee to gradually plant a variety of new trees over the next few years.
