New trees have been planted in the Winamac Town Park, while old trees continue to be removed. Park Manager Dave DeLorenzo told the park board last week that 15 of the park’s 18 new trees have now been planted, thanks to Proscapes Unlimited, Dave Bennett, and Park Board Member Jon Chapman. The planting was originally scheduled to take place during a park cleanup day last month, but was delayed by flooding.

The Winamac Park Board has approved an agreement for the inspection of the Town Park’s “swinging bridge.” Indianapolis engineering firm Butler, Fairman & Seufert will do the work for $6,500. That’s a bit more than it cost during the last inspection cycle. During Thursday’s meeting, board member and town manager Brad Zellers said the difference is that this inspection will include a check for lead paint.

Winamac’s pool project was officially put to rest by the town’s park board Thursday. Members voted to stop pursuing the pool project and focus on a splash pad instead. Board member and town manager Brad Zellers abstained from the vote. This follows similar action by the town council last month.
