Felony Charges Filed Against Former Pulaski County EMS Director

Former Pulaski County EMS Director Nikki Lowry has been charged with six felonies, amid allegations that she stole more than $12,000 in department training funds. Lowry was fired from the EMS Department last November, following an investigation into the complaints.

Last week, case documents were filed with Pulaski Superior Court. Lowry was charged with four counts of theft, one count of official misconduct, and one count of corrupt business influence, according to court records.

The charges were announced last week by U.S. Attorney Josh Minkler, as part of a larger initiative called “Operation Public Accountability.” It led to corruption-related charges being brought against 15 people around Indiana, for a total of more than $1 million in losses. “Operation Public Accountability” involved several agencies, including the State Board of Accounts, FBI, and Indiana State Police, as well as the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

The Pulaski County Prosecutor’s Office is handling Lowry’s case. Meanwhile, the EMS Department has been working to overhaul its training program’s finances, to provide the proper oversight.
