Winamac High School Adjusts Graduation Plans after Uptick in COVID-19 Cases

An uptick in COVID-19 cases has prompted some adjustments to Friday’s Winamac High School graduation. It’s scheduled for 7:00 p.m. EDT at the football field.

To maximize social distancing, guests are now being asked to bring their own chairs or blankets for seating on the field. The graduates will sit in the home bleachers. School officials have decided to stick with their original plan to allow only four guests per graduate. Anyone’s who’s experienced a new onset of cough, fever, or sneezing and anyone who’s been diagnosed with COVID-19 or been in direct contact with someone who has is being asked to stay home.

An Eastern Pulaski Community School Corporation Facebook post says the changes were requested by the Pulaski County Health Department. Those who can’t attend in person will be able to watch the ceremony live online.

Following the ceremony the Class of 2020 will have a parade through Winamac starting at about 7:45.
