The Pulaski County Council’s two newest members will take their seats for the first time tonight. Adam Loehmer and Tim Overmyer were elected last year, replacing Jay Sullivan and Scott Hinkle, who did not seek reelection.
Council members will choose a president and vice-president for the year and discuss appointments to the Kankakee-Iroquois Regional Planning Commission, Pulaski County Community Development Commission, and Pulaski County Public Library Board, among others.
They’ll also get a review of the construction manager selection process for the courthouse renovation and justice center expansion projects. The committees set up to review the proposals recommended that the county commissioners choose Tonn & Blank Construction for both. But the commissioners last week said they wanted to give the new county officials a chance to fully understand the information before they make a final decision.
Just days into 2021, council members are already being asked to consider additional appropriations to the budget. One of those includes Riverboat Fund money for the county’s COVID-19 response. Most of the $100,000 the council appropriated for that purpose last year was left unspent. That means the council’s approval is needed to carry that spending permission over to 2021.
Tonight’s Pulaski County Council meeting starts at 7:00 EST in the Pulaski County Highway Garage. It will be streamed live on the Pulaski County, Indiana, Government Facebook page.
