Knox Community School Board Approves Donations, School Calendar

The Knox Community School Board approved several donations last week, according to Superintendent Greg Mikulich.

Mikulich said, “One was to Jamie Shireman’s outdoor trail project. One was to our Elementary Special Needs class for their annual Christmas party which was from the Northern Indiana Community Foundation. Another donation was made to our baseball programs. We always love when our community is giving back to our school.”

The donation to the outdoor project was in the amount of $5,000 from an anonymous donor, the Northern Indiana Community Foundation grant was for $3,000, and the donation toward the boys baseball program was in the amount of $10,000 from an anonymous donor.

Mikulich said the board also took action to approve the 2024-2025 school calendar.

“The first teacher day is August 1, but the first student day is August 5. We did have a little change in our parent/teacher conferences. We used to do them on two evenings. Now we’re going to do them on one evening. Thursday, October 10 we will have parent/teacher conferences from 3:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. CT, and then we will have on Friday (October 11) parent/teacher conferences from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. CT. We won’t have any students on the 11th. The last day of school for students is May 30 and the last teacher day is June 2 with graduation falling on Friday, June 6.”

Additionally, Elementary Principal Michelle Tarnow spotlighted Mrs. Prater’s 4th grade class and their Thanksgiving wax museum.
