NJ-SP Wellness Plan Among Corporation Plans Approved Tuesday Night

The North Judson-San Pierre School Board reviewed and approved the Corporation’s Plans last night, including the Wellness Plan.

While som of the main changes were highlighted at the school board’s March meeting, this month Superintendent Dr. Annette Zupin focused on the main components of each Plan and the specific elements that were incorporated to fit NJ-SP’s needs.

Knox Officials to Hold Summer Events Planning Meeting Tonight

In the coming weeks, many people may start looking forward to the community events that better weather brings. However, without a dedicated team of volunteers, those fun opportunities would not be possible.

Group of Starke County Justice Center Trustees to Begin Welding Program Today

Starting today, a handful of Starke County Justice Center trustees will be attending 12 weeks of commercial welding training, with the opportunity to receive certification.

Program officials who were interviewed about this opportunity indicated that the training is being offered to not only give offenders a chance to prove their commitment to recovery and rehabilitation, but to also benefit the community.

Applications and Assistance for Knox’s Owner-Occupied Housing Grant Available Tonight

Knox residents are reminded that tonight’s the night to learn more about the Owner-Occupied Housing Rehabilitation Grant Program.

Tonight’s 6 o’clock meeting at the Nancy J. Dembowski Center will focus on this funding opportunity provided through the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority.

IHCDA officials report that this is a way to help residents address home conditions that, if otherwise left unattended, would create an issue with the integrity of the home or become a detriment to the residents’ quality of life.

Applications for the program will only be available during this meeting.

Starke County Highway Declares Phase One of Recent Bridge Inspection Complete

Starke County Highway Department officials recently stated that the results from phase one of bridge inspections displayed that the overall bridge health in the area is excellent compared to some other places throughout the state.

According to representatives, within the last five years, the county has developed a bridge maintenance plan to keep them in good condition.

Knox Residents Are Invited to Learn More about a Grant Program for Home Improvements Next Week

Knox Mayor Dennis Estok recently highlighted an opportunity for community members interested in making home improvements to learn more about the Owner-Occupied Housing Rehabilitation Grant program.

During his report at Tuesday night’s city council meeting, Mayor Estok said an informational meeting about the grant program will be held at the Nancy J. Dembowski Community Center next week on Tuesday, April 16th at 6 p.m.
