A Habitat for Humanity Representative submitted a request to the North Judson Town Council Monday night.

NJ Town Council Amends Water Revenue Bond Ordinance to Reflect SRF Public Pool Interest Rate
North Judson Town Council members were required to make an amendment to the Town’s 2018 water revenue bonds ordinance when they met Monday night.
As previously reported, the Town is funding their drinking water project with money from a State Revolving Fund (SRF) loan. When members initially passed the water revenue bond ordinance, they included the anticipated interest rate which was 3.25 percent. Continue reading

At the Nancy J. Dembowski Community Center this Thursday, the Henry F. Schricker Service Before Self Award will be presented to Van Janovic, of Territorial Engineering. The Business of the Year and Above and Beyond awards will also be presented at this time.
The 2019 ‘Business of the Year’ is Traffic Control Specialists, Inc located in Knox. In a social media post, Chamber of Commerce representatives congratulated President Tracy Triska for the amazing contribution her company has made to the community by donating time, labor, signs and much more. The National Scholarship Providers Association (NSPA) recognizes November as a time to raise awareness of scholarship opportunities for current and future college students, as there are a lot of students who are looking for the best refinance student loans and they need financial assistance. That is why November is recognized as National Scholarship Month.
According to information provided on Scholarships.com, National Scholarship Month used to be acknowledged in May until 2008. The Pulaski County Travel Board will be at two Winamac Locations Today
In order to ensure that all citizens have a fair chance to cast a vote, the Pulaski County Travel Board is making some stops around the county prior to Election Day.
According to Pulaski County Election Board officials, the travel board will be in Winamac today at the Pulaski Health Care Center and the Hickory Creek nursing home. Earlier this week, the travel board was the Parkview Haven Retirement Home in Francesville. Continue reading
Winamac Town Council Holds Bid Opening for Wastewater Project
Winamac Town Council members held a bid opening for the Town’s wastewater project when they met in a special session on Tuesday.
Only one bid was received for the project and it was from Crosby Construction. They provided a total base bid of $1,475,000 and listed an alternate amount of $55,000. Continue reading

Pulaski County Election Board Members Approve Legal Notices, Finalize Food Plans for Election Day
Pulaski County Election Board members were required to approve a few legal notices when they met Monday afternoon.
Both notices appeared in the paper by the required deadline. One of the notices provided the voting location and the other was an example of the full ballot that voters will see on Election Day. With a unanimous vote, members approved the notices.

Volunteers Needed for Knox Peppermint Parade, Planning Meeting Set for November 7th
If you’re interested in being one of “Santa’s little helpers” during this year’s Peppermint Parade in Knox, be sure to attend the planning meeting scheduled for later this month.
When the city council met last Tuesday, Mayor Dennis Estok announced that a meeting to coordinate volunteer efforts event will be held at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, November 7th in the Nancy J. Dembowski Center.
Estok noted that the Peppermint Parade will take place on Saturday, December 1st. He added, “That’s when Santa Claus comes to town and then we go to the park to the Santa Claus house and he greets the kids. We give out hot chocolate and s’mores.” Continue reading

Court Date Set for Rochester Woman Linked to Fulton County Bus Stop Accident
A court date has been set for the Rochester woman who faces multiple charges related to Tuesday morning’s bus stop accident in Fulton County.
According to a staff member at the Fulton County Jail, Alyssa Shepherd’s initial hearing date is set for Tuesday, November 13th at 8:30 a.m.
She faces three felony charges of reckless homicide and one misdemeanor charge of passing a school bus, when the arm signal device is extended, causing an injury. Continue reading
Rochester Woman Arrested for Alleged Involvement with Fulton County Bus Stop Accident
A Rochester woman was arrested shortly after 4 p.m. ET on Tuesday for her alleged involvement with a fatal accident at a Fulton County bus stop.
An investigation by Indiana State Police officers resulted in the arrest of 24-year-old Alyssa L. Shepherd. According to an ISP news release, Shepherd was taken into custody while at her place of employment when officers served her with a Fulton Superior Court arrest warrant.
The warrant alleged three felony charges for reckless homicide and a misdemeanor count for passing a school bus, with the stop arm extended, causing an injury. Continue reading
