The Pulaski County Council has approved funding arrangements for the change in the county’s workers’ compensation coverage. The county was dropped by the Indiana Public Employers’ Plan, leading the county commissioners to choose a policy using the state pool last month.

A 10-percent pay cut for all of Pulaski County’s board and commission members drew some concerns during Thursday’s election board meeting. During last fall’s budgeting process, the county council voted to cut their own pay, that of the county commissioners, and that of all other county board members in the 2020 budget. But Clerk JoLynn Behny said the council doesn’t have that authority, when it comes to the election board.

Repairs to the Bass Lake Beach gate house may be complete this spring. It was seriously damaged more than two years ago, when a pickup truck reportedly crashed into it. But during last month’s Starke County Park Board meeting, Board Member Butch Gerstandt reported that parts of the building still weren’t painted, and the wood was falling apart.

Drug Free Council Member Sandy Lucas told the county council Monday that the group had budgeted $8,000 for the year. But she said according to the auditor, the fund has actually collected almost $13,500 in substance offense fees over the past year.

Pulaski County’s largest employer is committing to its Winamac operations. BraunAbility executives have announced that the company has secured a 15-year facility lease with the Braun family that includes three extension options. That’s according to a Facebook post Tuesday from the Pulaski County Community Development Commission. The company has also approved a significant expenditure for office remodeling, according to the CDC.

Board Member Rik Ritzler has gone through the records and has determined that Callahan Development, LLC has a credit of at least $1,400 on its rent payment to the county.
