The Hamlet Police Department is cracking down on abandoned vehicles and similar violations. Town Marshal Clint Norem told the town council last week that officers recently issued eight or nine warnings, and all but one of the individuals have since taken care of the issue.

During the town council’s first meeting of the year Wednesday, Town Marshal Clint Norem, Street Superintendent Kevin Leinbach, and Town Attorney Martin Bedrock were all reappointed. Hamlet officials are still working on a plan to get a new home built on a piece of town-owned land. During Wednesday’s zoning board meeting, Board Member Brian Earnest said town officials have opted to accept sealed bids for the property at Lincoln and Pearl streets, but there are still several logistics to be worked out.
