02/03/12 Jamie Schouten of Knox reported she had left her wallet in a cart at Save a Lot but someone found it and she has been unsuccessfully trying to get it back from them.

02/03/12 A female caller told police that she found four-wheeler tracks and a strong chemical smell on 700 East between 150 N and Ind. 2 in Grovertown.

02/03/12 A resident of the 2000 block of South Ind. 23 in Knox reported someone
keeps knocking over his birdbath.

02/02/12 Ed Schroeder of North Judson told police he was being battered by a female who had slashed the tires on his vehicle.

02/02/12 Jaime Bradley of Knox told police that a male subject with a ski mask pulled into her driveway on a scooter and knocked on her door.

02/01/12 A caller from the 5100 block of North US 35 in Knox told police that a male subject claiming to be with the DEA has been making contact with them, but when they called the department they were told he no longer works there.

Incidents:
02/04/11 Another two vehicle parking lot mishap occurred at the CVS parking lot in North Judson. North Judson Chief Deputy Joe Budner estimated damages near $1,000 as a 2009 Ford pickup truck with a hitch backed into a 2002 four-door Ford sedan. The hitch caused most of the damage.

02/02/11 A former American Oak Employee reported to North Judson Police that her final paycheck had been lost or stolen. The check was cashed in Kentland, Indiana. The investigation continues.

02/01/11 The North Judson Police investigated a two vehicle mishap in the North Judson–San Pierre High School parking lot around 5:00 p.m. A student backed her 2004 Ford Expedition into a parked 2009 Mitsubishi Galant. Chief Doug Vessely investigated estimating damages at over $1,000. No injuries were reported.

02/04/12 A resident in Jefferson Township called police to report that three kids in their underwear drove ¼ mile up his lane, knocked on his door and said they were lost and were looking for Francesville. One of the subjects had on a pink bathrobe with bears on it.

02/04/12 A minor property damage accident occurred between two vehicles in the Winamac area.

02/04/12 A resident in Winamac told police someone just shot a pop gun at his window.

02/01/12 A Medaryville woman called police to report that her security light just came on and it went off.. It came on again and she saw a man running through her yard.

02/04/12 Leann Wallace reported a burglary. She told police that medication and money were stolen from her residence.

02/04/12 Bobbie Barnett reported her car stolen but it was later recovered. Her ex-boyfriend reportedly sold the van without her knowledge. She retained ownership of the vehicle.

02/02/12 Police were called to Dollar General in Knox. The suspect left on a bicycle in an unknown direction of travel. The employee said that the suspect showed her that he had nothing in his coat pockets but when he walked away she could see candy hanging out of the rear of his pants.

Accidents:
02/03/12 Officers from the Knox City Police Department were called to a two vehicle accident on U.S. 35. Cara Arnett, 32, of Knox told police that she was traveling north on U.S. 35 near John Street and turned on her signal to turn west onto John Street. She said she saw a vehicle traveling south on U.S. 35 also with a turn signal on to turn the opposite direction onto John Street. Arnett said the driver waved her to proceed and another car, driven by a juvenile, was driving south in the outside lane and Arnett didn’t see that vehicle. A collision could not be avoided. The juvenile told police that Arnett pulled into her lane of travel. Arnett’s vehicle topped on its side as a result of the collision. All of the victims suffered minor injuries.

Incidents:
01/29/12 The Medaryville Fire Department was called to a garage fire near a house. A large propane tank was located in between the garage and the house. The Medaryville Fire Department, along with the San Pierre Fire Department and the Francesville Fire Department arrived on scene to put out the blaze. A rekindle occurred several hours later.

01/28/12 A rollover accident was reported in the Star City area. The driver said he was not injured.

01/28/12 A slide off occurred in the Star City area behind Central Co-Op. The caller said he left his truck in the ditch with the vehicle’s flashers on. He was not injured.

01/27/12 A Star City resident reported a car vs. deer accident.

01/27/12 A two vehicle accident was reported in the Winamac area. No injuries were reported.

01/26/12 A Winamac resident reported a theft incident.

01/25/12 A Winamac resident told police that an intruder was trying to get into her house. The caller went into the house and asked the person what he was doing there and called the person by name. The intruder reportedly told police that he had come from a friend’s house and is headed back there now.

01/25/12 A Francesville business called police to report that a patron had come in and left without paying for her prescription. They are unable to get a hold of her.

01/25/12 A Winamac resident told police that she was at the bar and she went to the bathroom. When she came back, her phone was gone.

01/24/12 A Winamac resident called police to report a fire. He said that he dropped something in his living room and now it is on fire. The Winamac Fire Department was called to the scene and the fire was put out. The area was sealed off and fire crews were waiting for a representative from the Indiana State Fire Marshal’s Office to show up.

01/24/12 A Winamac resident said that he hit a car and there is considerable damage. No injuries were reported.

01/24/12 A Medaryville resident reported a break-in. An eviction notice was served and a couple of kids were found it the house. The locks had been changed so they had to have broken into the residence.

01/23/12 A resident told police that an irrigation system had been struck and damaged severely. The caller said that car parts were all over the place, but the vehicle has left the scene.

01/23/12 A two vehicle accident was reported with minor injuries.

Incidents:
The North Judson Police covered two weather related accidents in the past week. A three vehicle property damage accident occurred on Talmer Avenue and the intersection of Garfield Avenue. A east bound vehicle driving on Talmer Avenue, turned North on Garfield in front of a westbound vehicle, which struck the vehicle, spinning it into another vehicle that was stopped at the stop sign on Garfield, waiting to turn onto Talmer Avenue. Chief Deputy Joe Budner investigated the incident on Tuesday, January 17. North Judson Police Officer Frank Thomas covered another accident on Thursday, January 19, involving two vehicles, one of which was parked in the Maryland Street Apartments, and was struck by a pickup truck that was pulling into the parking lot and slid around into the parked car. Both accidents were influenced by the road surface conditions. Chief Vessely once again reminds drivers to be safe on the roads when snow and ice are present. “Give yourself a little extra time and drive with caution, especially when the roads are slick.”

Incidents:
01/22/12 The Medaryville Fire Department was called to a house fire in Medaryville. House was fully engulfed when firefighters arrived.

01/21/12 A Winamac resident called police to report a break in. The unknown suspect(s) had reportedly stolen pain medication. The caller said the same thing happened to his neighbor. The suspect was found in the basement and he was arrested on a valid arrest warrant out of Starke County.

01/20/12 A resident in Harris Township reported that her neighbor’s house was broken into two days ago. Officers told dispatch that it appeared that the residence is secure but it looks like something is missing from the rear of the residence. Police believe it was a 4-wheeler.

01/20/12 Several slide-offs and property damage accidents were reported due to the snow event. In one case in Medaryville, a car left the road, hit a fence and drove off. A woman showed up at the address and told the homeowner that it was her father that had just drove through her fence and there was a lot of damage. Her father has early dementia and is at home and scared. The homeowner is moving livestock from one field to another due to the damage. The homeowner said that the damage amount is approximately $1,000.

01/19/12 A Star City resident called police to report that some unknown person(s) took an ice pick to the radiator of his vehicle.

01/19/12 A Winamac resident said he was at the intersection of State Road 14 and State Road 39 where a vehicle hit a snow plow. While running information, police found that the snow plow had been involved in another accident with a car on January 12th. Police were planning to speak with the Highway Department Superintendent regarding this incident.

01/19/12 A Winamac resident told police that there are strange footprints leading up to the house.

01/18/12 A Winamac resident asked for police to report to a location in reference to some graffiti in the parking lot and a strange message left on the office answering machine. The receptionist had taken pictures and erased everything.

01/18/12 A Bruce Lake resident told police that his neighbor’s house has been broken into and it looks like it’s been ransacked. Police arrived on scene and found forced entry. The door frame was damaged but officers noted that the house is so dirty and unkept that it’s impossible to determine if anything was taken. Owner will need to tell police if anything was taken.

01/18/12 A Medaryville resident called police to report that she returned home and found her kitchen burned. Her cookbooks and the stove are burned and the house smells like smoke. The Medaryville Fire Department was called to investigate.

01/17/12 A Medaryville resident told police that his neighbor was outside shooting a .45 at his dog. The neighbor reportedly said that he would come back with something bigger to take care of the dog and the dog owner.

01/17/12 A property damage accident was reported in the Winamac area. The driver said that he wrecked his truck and his truck was on its side. The driver was out of the vehicle and said he was fine.

01/16/12 A car vs. deer accident was reported in the Jefferson Township area.

01/16/12 A Medaryville resident requested the police to his residence to check damage to his wheat field.

01/16/12 A driver reported to police that he started to slide on the road, over corrected, went off the road, and hit a pole. No injuries were reported but the pole was damaged.

01/16/12 A Francesville resident called police to say that his wife hit a dog on 1400 West, one to two miles north of the White County line. She drove the vehicle home, but now the vehicle is not drivable.

Incidents:
01/19/12 Two juveniles reported to police that they had been hit by a snow plow driver at the intersection of Washington and Main Street. A witness reportedly told police that the two juveniles were crossing the street and not paying attention. The snow plow driver was backing up slowly and the juveniles were bumped by the snow plow. After the accident, the boys allegedly started yelling profanities at the driver and left the area. They went to a residence and then went to the Starke County Sheriff’s Department to file a police report after one of the juveniles realized that he had received a scrape in the accident. The snow plow driver said he was backing up and saw two juveniles standing out in the roadway and he saw them move away. He said he wasn’t aware that he had backed into them. He said the boys then yelled profanities at him and walked away. The juvenile was medically cleared from the hospital.

01/20/12 Michael R. Foster, 18, 2403 Michigan Rd. Lot #70, Plymouth, IN, arrested on preliminary charges of Conversion and Resisting Law Enforcement after he allegedly tried stealing DVDs from Five Star in Knox. He resisted police when officers attempted to take him into custody.

Incidents:

The North Judson Police covered a series of 3 weather related accidents on Thursday, January 12. Jerald Crider, Jr., of North Judson, slid off of State Road 10 near 250 West, around 2:40 p.m. No injuries were reported. A little later, around 3:12 p.m., a vehicle driven by Janelle Binion, of Knox, slid into a vehicle driven by Sharon Richie, of North Judson, on the curve of Main Street and Oakwood Street. Shortly after 4:00 p.m. an accident on Ufkes Drive was reported when a 2004 Chevy Malibu being driven by Jonathon Mizer, of San Pierre, turned off of Campbell Drive onto Ufkes and slid into a tree. North Judson Chief Deputy Joe Budner investigated all three accidents estimating a total of damages near $10,000.00. Police remind you to drive with caution on the snow and ice.

A two vehicle mishap occurred Saturday on Vine Street near the intersection of Railroad Street in North Judson when a pickup truck being driven by David Shidler, of North Judson, backed into a Jeep being driven by Shawn Allen, also of North Judson. North Judson Police Chief Doug Vessely investigated the incident, estimating damages near $2,500.

01/10/12 A caller told police that his car had slid into a ditch in the 5200 block of East 25 North in Knox, and when he came back from getting help, he found his Kindle and toolbox missing.

01/09/12 Jamie Ledbetter told police that someone had gone through all of her belongings in her storage unit at N & S Storage in Knox.

01/09/12 Janet McIntire of Knox told police that she has been receiving phone calls regarding a male caller informing her of a contest she won and asking that she send money through Western Union.

01/15/12 An accident was reported in the Monterey area and a pregnant woman was injured. The injury was sustained in the rib area. She was transported to the hospital.

01/15/12 A Winamac resident called police and alerted authorities of a burning smell. The caller said a strong odor was coming from the apartment above and it smelled like wires or rubber burning. The police investigated the call and gained entry to the apartment where they found a person sleeping on the couch with an empty pot on a lit burner on the stove.

01/14/12 Two car vs. deer accidents were reported in the Winamac area. No injuries were reported.

01/14/12 A woman told police that someone kicked her vehicle while parked. A boot print was visible where the damage was located.

01/14/12 An employee with a Winamac gas station reported two failure to pay incidents. Both subjects did come back to pay what they owed.

01/14/12 A passenger sustained minor injuries in a single vehicle car accident. The driver said she lost control of her vehicle going over a hill, hit a tree and rolled onto its side. The Pulaski County Highway Garage was notified of the extremely icy road.

01/14/12 A man called police to get an accident report from a car vs. deer accident the night before. He had swerved to miss a deer and struck a guardrail. He found more damage than originally suspected.

01/13/12 A caller told police that she spotted a vehicle that had gone off the road at State Road 14 and U.S. 421 and landed on its side. Emergency personnel didn’t spot that vehicle but did see a vehicle at that intersection that they believe has been there a long time.

01/13/12 A property damage accident was reported around the curve by Pizza King in Winamac. The vehicle came around the curve and slid into a truck that was parked in the driveway.

01/13/12 A caller told police that he came upon an accident between a semi and a tractor but everyone was ok.

01/13/12 A Winamac resident called police to report a hit and run accident. The complaintant said she was at the bank and heard a really loud bang. She went to see what it was and someone hit a parked car by the bank. The caller thought the car might belong to someone who lives in the apartments across the street from the bank. Police continue to investigate this call.

01/13/12 A person driving a car in the Monterey area called police to report that he just wrecked his vehicle and it is about to tip over. He said he was trying to sit still so it didn’t tip over. After a while, he called back and said someone came by and pulled him out and he is fine. The driver had come around the curve and slid off into a snow bank.

01/13/12 A caller in the Beardstown area called police and said he just took out a couple of sections of fence in front of a house.

01/10/12 A caller asked police if a person is allowed to possess dynamite. A person must have a federal permit to possess dynamite. Police investigated the call and found that there was no dynamite, but fuses.

01/10/12 A caller reported hitting three deer in the Jefferson Township area. No injuries were reported.

01/09/12 A Star City woman called police to report an attempted break-in. The resident said the unknown person(s) took off the patio glass door and was trying to get into the house. She wasn’t sure if anything was taken at the time of the call.

01/14/12 Shawn McCrum reported the theft of metal lawn chairs from his residence.

01/13/12 Hamlet police assisted the Starke County Sheriff’s Department on a call of a vehicle doing donuts in a field near the intersection of 600 N. and 900 E. A Hamlet officer located the vehicle driven by Bruce Jacobs. Bruce is facing preliminary charges of Criminal Mischief. Damage to crops estimated between $5,000-$10,000.

01/11/12 Shawn Tuttle reported damage to her belongings inside her home. The damage was believed to be caused by an ex-boyfriend.

01/11/12 A Hamlet officer was notified that a 7-year-old girl was missing but her bike was found by the Hamlet Apartments. Hamlet officer located the child a few minutes later in an apartment playing with another juvenile.

01/07/12 Officers were called to Denham with a report of a truck in the ditch. One person was seen walking around the area, but he was not injured.

01/07/12 A truck was in the ditch in the Monon area, but no injuries were reported.

01/07/12 A Pulaski resident said that she has been out of state for a couple of months with her son and her friends have been watching her residence. She noticed that her electric bill has more than doubled since her friends have been staying there. Her friends have notified her that there is an orange extension cord going from her house to the residence just west of her. She thinks her neighbors are stealing electric from her residence.

01/07/12 A two vehicle accident was reported in the Francesville area, but no injuries were reported.

01/07/12 A call came into the Sheriff’s Department where a resident in Winamac received a package at her residence but she didn’t order anything. The resident had heard about a scam where a person orders something and puts a different address on the package and it is delivered to that address. The person then picks up the package at that address before the homeowner comes home or notices that a package is there. The caller didn’t want to file a report, but wanted the Sheriff’s Department to know this was happening.

01/07/12 A car vs. deer accident was reported in the Harris Township area. No injuries were reported.

01/06/12 A caller in the Star City area reported that some unknown person(s) threw a brick through her window while she and her husband were watching TV.

01/06/12 A car vs. deer accident was reported to the Winamac area. The driver was reportedly six months pregnant, but does not need medical attention. She was not otherwise injured.

01/06/12 A state highway department worker called to report that he was in a car vs. deer accident. No injuries were reported.

01/06/12 A semi was stopped by the airport as liquid oxygen was spilling from the tank on the truck.

01/05/12 A Winamac resident reported a hit and run accident. A delivery truck just hit her car and minor damage was done.

01/05/11 A resident in the Pulaski area told police that a man in a truck has been coming around the area, parking and sleeping. The person went up to the car and saw the man laying across the seat. The person in the truck told police that he stopped there to rest and he fell asleep. He is leaving the area.

01/05/12 A resident in the Star City area called and said a man approached her claiming to be with a construction company but she couldn’t understand him very well. It seemed suspicious. Several other calls came into the Sheriff’s Department about this same type of incident.

01/04/12 A Winamac resident called police to report that someone took her medications off her TV stand.

01/01/12 A resident in the 100 block of Vine St. reported that she woke up and her friends that were over had left. She noticed $94.00 was missing from her wallet, a Kindle Reader and a friend’s iPod Touch was also missing. Both items and most of the cash have been recovered or located. This incident remains under investigation.

12/31/11 North Judson Police Officer Bill Scheiderer initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 200 block of Luken St. The driver Casey Jo White, 19, of Wanatah was arrested for Minor Consuming Alcohol.

12/30/11 A resident in the 100 block of Vine St. reported that some male friends were over at her house. When they left, she noticed some items missing. This incident is still being investigated.

12/27/11 North Judson Police Officer Bill Scheiderer initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 600 block of W. Talmer Ave. The driver of the vehicle Maria D. Paulson, 27, of North Judson was found to be driving with a suspended Driver License. Maria was issued a citation for the infraction.

12/27/11 North Judson Police Chief Doug Vessely investigated a property damage accident in the Dollar General parking lot. A vehicle driven by Willard M. Tharpe, Jr., of North Judson, stated that he was turning to park in a parking spot. Willard stated his vehicle slid due to the snow and slush and into a vehicle owned by Margaret and Samuel Whittington, also of North Judson. Samuel was sitting in the the passenger side seat. There were no injuries and Chief Vessely estimated the damage at $1,000.00.

12/31/11 A minor property damage car accident was reported in the town of Winamac. No injuries were reported.

12/31/11 Good Oil in Winamac reported a drive-off in gas. Police found the subject who said he thought he paid for the gas with credit card – it must not have gone through. He returned to the business to pay for the fuel.

12/30/11 A Winamac man called police to report that he and his wife were sleeping and some unknown man was banging on the door asking to come inside. Police came out to the residence and found an intoxicated male at the residence and the man was taken to his sister’s house for the night.

12/30/11 A slide-off was reported on 125 S. just west of 200 West in Winamac. The driver was cited for not having a valid driver’s license. The vehicle was removed from the ditch and a licensed driver was notified to retrieve the vehicle.

12/30/11 A Denham resident called police to report that 12 guns have been stolen from his residence.

12/30/11 A caller advised police of a trailer fire and did not know if anyone was inside the trailer. The call came from a 9-1-1 transfer from Starke County, but the North Judson Fire Department was called to the scene.

12/28/11 A Beardstown resident told police that some unknown person just ran through the fence on his father’s property and someone has stolen things from the back of the residence.

12/28/11 A caller in the Radioville area told police that he has been watching his neighbor’s trailer for them and he noticed that someone has broke into it, cut the gas line and vandalized it.

12/27/11 A Medaryville resident called police to report a rollover accident. The car rolled into a ditch and a woman and two children are out of the vehicle and have minor injuries. They were taken to Pulaski Memorial Hospital for treatment.

12/27/11 A two car accident was reported in the Beardstown area. No injuries were reported but one of the drivers noticed that someone has broken through the fence on the property and the car isn’t there now.

12/27/11 Two vehicles slid in the ditch in the Medaryville area. The vehicles did not hit each other, but slid into the same ditch.

12/27/11 A caller in the Monterey area told police that his son rolled his truck into the ditch. The son is out of the vehicle and is not injured.

12/26/11 A Radioville resident called police to report that the new lock he placed on his shed may be tampered with. The lock has been locked in an upside-down position.

12/26/11 A Star City woman told police that she had her dog on a leash on her property in the back yard and she was with the dog while she was in her wheelchair. Two dogs ran from the park and charged toward her dog and her dog lunged at the two dogs, causing her to flip out of her wheelchair. She was not seriously injured, but she told police that the dogs that ran from the park are always loose.

12/26/11 A Beardstown resident called police to report a break-in at their camper.

12/26/11 A Monterey resident said a Fed-Ex package was stolen from outside the residence. The complaintant’s Christmas gifts for the kids were in that package and Fed-Ex confirmed that the package was delivered on Thursday.

12/27/11 Dave Schuster told police that a vehicle property damage accident was reported in the area of Pacific Avenue and Bender Street. The vehicle, driven by a 17-year-old Knox resident, was taken without permission and he had wrecked the vehicle. He had driven into a NIPSCO pole. The driver’s sister, Jessenia Delapaz, 19, initially told police that she drove the vehicle, but as the police investigated the scene, police learned that her brother actually drove the vehicle. The driver was given a citation for Operator Never Licensed.

12/25/11 A caller told police of an accident in Franklin Township with one female in the car. The vehicle had gone into a ditch. The driver was not injured in the accident. The accident happened just west of 1175 West. The driver said she swerved to miss a deer and went off the road.

12/24/11 A resident in the Bruce Lake area told police that some unknown person(s) kicked the door in at his mother’s property, but he doesn’t see anything missing.

12/24/11 A caller in the Denham area said that a car driven by female went through his front yard and said part of her fender is in the yard and there is damage to some trees.

12/24/11 A car vs. deer accident occurred in the Denham area. The caller advised that the accident “messed up” the plastic molding and there are some scratches on his vehicle.

12/23/11 Police were called to a residence in the area of 700 South and 700 West in reference to an accidental shooting. Two brothers were playing video games, got to horsing around and the kids thought a BB gun in the house was not loaded. One brother shot his 11-year-old brother in the arm with a BB gun. Reportedly, there was no malicious intent.

12/23/11 A car vs. deer accident was reported in the Monon area. No injuries were reported and no report was needed.

12/23/11 A caller told police that a truck hit a pole and there are lines hanging in the Francesville area. The driver refused medical treatment. The accident caused half the pole to break. The driver was arrested for Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated.

12/22/11 A vehicle was towed after police were called about subjects pushing grocery carts up and down the street. Police arrived and found a stolen shopping cart in the back of the suspect vehicle. Several juveniles were involved in the incident.

12/22/11 NIPSCO was called after a gas leak was detected in one of the manholes across the street from Family Express in Winamac. NIPSCO crews located the leak and fixed it.

12/22/11 A caller advised of a car vs. deer accident that occurred right in front of her in the Beardstown area. No injuries and minimal damage were reported.

12/22/11 A Star City resident called to report that she was bitten by an animal. Officer advised that her own cat bit her while it was eating out of the trash can.

12/22/11 A caller advised that someone has hit her vehicle in the parking lot next to the nursing home in Winamac.

12/22/11 A caller told police that the car in front of him just spun out, hit a pole and is out in a field north of Francesville. No serious injuries were reported. Two juveniles were involved in the accident.

12/22/11 A caller told police that a person driving southbound on U.S. 35, just north of the Tippecanoe River State Park, was driving recklessly. The caller said that the driver was driving fast and was all over the road, running people off the road. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver was cited for excessive speed and failure to carry a license on person.

12/22/11 The Sheriff’s Department was notified that a person was taking apart a bullet and it exploded. The subject was in the ER in White County if the deputy needed a report. The victim said the incident happened around 1:00 p.m. ET and tried to tough it out before he went to the hospital.

12/21/11 A semi that was being escorted through the area snipped a NIPSCO pole in Medaryville. The light pole kept exploding and NIPSCO was contacted to fix the problem.

12/20/11 A Monterey resident called police to report that her neighbors were shooting and she just heard something hit her house. She believes it was a bullet. The neighbor told police that he was shooting, but at a target.

12/20/11 A resident in Franklin Township told police that he and his wife’s wedding rings were stolen from their friend’s house. The incident actually happened over Thanksgiving and the caller said that he has been checking pawn shops for the rings and found his at the pawn shop in Knox.

12/23/11 A resident in the 300 block of Franklin Street requested an officer in reference to a male subject on her porch with a pool stick. North Judson Police Officer Bill Scheiderer responded to the call. After a brief investigation Officer Scheiderer found out that Brian K. Lovins, of Knox, was there to fight a male that resides at that residence. Brian was then arrested for Intimidation and Public Intoxication.

12/23/11 A female came to the North Judson Police department to report that her husband’s wallet was stolen out of their vehicle. The vehicle was parked at a residence in the 300 block of High Street. This incident is still under investigation.

12/23/11 Chief Deputy Joe Budner responded to a property damage accident that occurred at Talmer Avenue and Division Street. A vehicle that was driven by Robert A. Allen of North Judson rear-ended a minivan driven by Heidi M. Stoller of Lowell, Michigan. The damages were estimated at over $5,000. The North Judson-Wayne Township Fire Department and Starke County EMS assisted at the scene. No injuries were reported.

12/23/11 A resident in the 500 block of Laurel Street reported the theft of a laptop computer out of his vehicle. The computer was recovered on Christmas Day, however this incident remains under investigation.

The North Judson Police Department would like to remind residents to make sure they keep their doors locked to both, their homes and vehicles. Chief Doug Vessely added that especially keeping the doors locked in your vehicle helps to deter crime and keeps your valuables safe. Criminals are always checking for unlocked cars to try and find cash and other valuables. The North Judson Police would like to wish everyone a safe and happy holiday season.

12/20/11 Josh and Savannah Garbison called police to report a robbery. They entered their home on South Pearl Street and saw that it had been ransacked. Christmas presents had been tossed around and unwrapped around their Christmas tree and a flat screen television was stolen. Several bottles of liquor were also stolen. Cabinets and dresser drawers were also found open and items were laying on the floor. The officer noted that the west door to the home had been forced open. The locks were broken and the door frame was damaged.

12/18/11 A car vs. deer accident was reported on State Road 14 and 400 East in Winamac. No injuries were reported. The caller said that the deer eventually got up and allowed him to pet it before it ran off

12/18/11 A caller advised that her father crashed his vehicle in front of her residence in Monterey and an ambulance is needed. A pole was hit and was laying in the driveway. Electric crews were called to the scene.

12/17/11 A Medaryville resident called police to report a stolen vehicle. The caller said he bought a truck from his brother-in-law and now it is missing. Police told him that it had been in an accident the night before.

12/17/11 A caller told police that she saw a vehicle in the Indian Creek at 1100 South and Base Road and the vehicle is wedged under a tree. The top and rear are sticking out and it is too dangerous to recover at this time. It has been marked with police tape for safety reasons.

12/19/11 Police were alerted to possible drug activity at a residence on Locust Drive. When police arrived on scene, they noticed that someone may have been living in the residence when no one was to be in the residence. A pill bottle was found that contained drugs. Police took the bottle and its contents into evidence.

12/17/11 David Wallsmith told police that his vehicle was sideswiped in front of his office on Washington Street. There is a possible suspect in this case.

12/17/11 A resident reported that her son’s laptop was stolen from school.

12/15/11 Dawn Wilson reported a forgery incident to Knox police.

12/11/11 Methamphetamine precursors were reportedly found on a piece of property on Culver Road, west of Roosevelt Road. It was an actual meth lab and it was removed from the property by officers from the Indiana State Police Clandestine Lav Team.

Christopher Clark, of Plainfield, IN, told police that he was traveling northbound on U.S. 35 just north of State Road 10 when his juvenile passenger grabbed the wheel and caused the vehicle to go off the roadway and strike several trees and then roll onto its side. He said he attempted to hit the brakes during the accident however the accident happened without warning. Both Clark and the passenger, his son, were injured. The son was trapped in the vehicle and was not restrained in the vehicle.

12/17/11 Cathy Wilcox reported the theft of her laptop from her residence.

12/17/11 Leslie Baker advised her husband was eastbound on State Road 8 near the Yellow River and slid off the road and hit the guardrail. Another vehicle tried to avoid hitting her husband but slid into the guardrail as well.

12/17/11 Debbie Ecker told police that a female subject lost control of her vehicle and slid off the raod into their driveway and struck their vehicle. No injuries were reported.

12/07/11 Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department investigated a two semi head-on collision in Winamac with entrapment. One driver was trapped and could not feel his legs and had a cut on his head. NIPSCO was called as a pole snapped and wires were hanging from the pole.

12/07/11 A Winamac resident told police that she noticed her door had been kicked in after she returned to her residence after she had taken her children to school. Nothing was reported stolen.

12/07/11 A Francesville resident reported that someone had tried to open her dining room window as the screen was taken off the window and there were fingerprints visible where the suspect tried to open the window. Entry was not gained into the house and nothing was stolen.

12/10/11 The North Judson Police were informed of two vandalism calls in the same neighborhood involving two vehicles that had been egged. One truck in the 700 block of Magnolia and another vehicle in the 300 block of George Street were involved. One incident occurred just before midnight and the other was sometime after midnight. North Judson Police Chief Doug Vessely asked that anyone with information is asked to call police at 574-772-5914. He also added “If you see or hear anything suspicious in your neighborhood, no matter what time of day, to please call police and let us know what’s going on”.

12/09/11 Two adult women made statements to the North Judson Police Department involving harassment toward each other and their family.

12/07/11 North Judson Police responded to a report of intimidation when an adult male was threatened in the 300 block of Main Street. A complete report was furnished to the Starke County Prosecutors Officer requesting formal charges.

12/07/11 A one vehicle property damage only accident took out a stop sign at the intersection of Talmer and Schricker Avenues and slighly damaged a 2009 Mercury being driven by Marcella Hoffman of San Pierre. North Judson Police Officer William Scheiderer estimated damages at near $750.

12/07/11 A criminal mischief report was made to the North Judson Police by a resident in the 700 Block of Laurel Street in reference to a slashed tire. This is same vehicle that was involved in an earlier hit and run.

12/06/11 North Judson Police are investigating a hit and run accident that occurred in the Brantwood parking lot at 407 Talmer Avenue. A 2004 Cadilac belonging to Kelly Jackson of Hamlet was parked in the lot overnight by Candice Wilson, her daughter. The next morning she returned to get the vehicle and when she got home noticed some damages. Chief Deputy Joe Budner investigated and estimated damages at over $1,000. Anyone with any information concerning this accident is asked to please call the North Judson Police at 574-772-5914.

12/09/11 Mohammad Fazal of Glendale Heights, IL, was southbound on U.S. 35 and lost control of his vehicle due to ice on the roadway. The vehicle left the roadway and flipped onto its top. No injuries were reported.

12/09/11 Christopher Hamand, of Hamlet was injured in a single vehicle accident. He was eastbound on County Road 25 North and upon entering the curve, his gas pedal became stuck. He was unable to control the vehicle and it left the roadway.

12/05/11 Police were called to an accident where Beatrice Zahn went off the roadway. Police observed evidence that showed that Zahn was traveling at a high rate of speed and drove straight through a curve in the road, accelerated and struck a tree shearing it off at the ground level and dragging the root cluster approximately 80 ft. She then went off the roadway and into a ditch. She was reportedly attempting to avoid hitting several deer in the roadway.

Incidents

11/28/11 – The North Judson Police responded to a rape call in the 200 block of Maryland Street at the Apartment complex. Shortly after 11:00 AM a report of a Rape was received. North Judson Police Chief Doug Vessely initiated an investigation into the incident and within an hour the suspect, Chris Stonebraker, was detained by the Pulaksi County Sheriff at the Pulaski County Jail for the alleged rape of his ex-wife. Stonebraker, 32, of Winamac, was later transferred to the Starke County Jail, when he was formally charged by the Indiana State Police with Rape and Domestic Battery. After an initial hearing before Judge Kim Hall on Wednesday, his bond was set at $2500 cash and $25,000 surety. Stonebraker has since bonded out of the Starke County Jail.

12/01/11 – Officer Frank Thomas of the North Judson Police Department investigated a hit and run accident that was reported just after 7:00 PM on Talmer Avenue and High Street by Andrea Amidei of North Judson. After an investigation was started and with the assistance of the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department, and the Knox City Police, the driver made contact with the Police and turned himself in. The driver, Jeremy R. Dilts, of Winamac, was arrested and charged with Leaving the Scene of a Property Damage Accident and with Driving While Suspended Prior. Officer Thomas estimated the damages at near $2500 and no injuries were reported.

11/26/11 A spill of oil or hydraulic fluid caused a motorcycle rider to lose control of his motorcycle and lay it down. The driver was not injured. The accident happened in the Denham area. The driver was unsure of what the chemical was but it was a slick substance and it went on for about a mile.

11/26/11 Residents in Pulaski called police to report a break-in in their garage. They hadn’t been at the home in two weeks and there were a lot of things stolen.

11/26/11 A resident in the Denham area called to report an attempted break-in into his pole barn.

11/25/11 A Denham resident called police to report that some unknown person(s) slashed all four of the tires on her son’s vehicle.

11/25/11 A Cass Township resident called police because the neighbor’s dog went onto his property and attacked his chickens.

11/25/11 A Winamac resident called to report that some unknown person(s) shot a window out. The complaintant told police that a window this same thing happened a few days ago. When police talked to a neighbor, he advised that he thinks someone has been shooting at his residence too.

11/25/11 Police responded to a personal injury accident southwest of Winamac. One person injured was a woman who was three months pregnant and a man was thrown from the vehicle, but only had cuts. They were transported to Pulaski Memorial Hospital.

11/25/11 A caller advised police that he hit a deer by Beardstown. The deer ran off but there was damage to his vehicle.

11/25/11 A car vs. deer accident was reported in the Ripley area. No injuries were reported.

11/25/11 A caller told police that a car vs. deer accident just occurred on State Road 14 west of Winamac.

11/23/11 Caller said he just hit a huge turkey in the Bruce Lake area. He was driving a company vehicle at the time of the accident and believes the damage is over $1,700.

11/21/11 A woman in the Ora area called police to report that on November 3rd she removed a plastic bag from her purse that contained a mother’s ring with six stones, a wedding band, diamond ring, and a locket necklace with a picture of her grandchild inside and it says “Grandma” on it. She thought she placed the bag in the glove box in her car and then drove around doing some errands. On November 12th, she noticed the bag missing. She has been looking for it ever since and now she believes it must have been stolen.

11/21/11 A Winamac resident reported the theft of tools.

11/21/11 A Winamac resident reported to police that his neighbor called him and said that he can hear a truck running and sounds of subjects loading up scrap metal from the property. The homeowner came home and advised nothing was stolen.

11/21/11 A car vs. deer accident was reported ½ mile east of County Road 1300 West in Winamac. The only damage to the vehicle was a crack to the frame on the front license plate.

Incidents:
11/26/11 North Judson Police responded to a domestic complaint and battery in the 200 Block of West Weninger. Neither party wanted to press charges and both were advised to stay away from each other.

11/26/11 North Judson Police Officer Frank Thomas investigated a traffic accident on Talmer Avenue near the intersection of Silver Street just before 6:00 p.m. A 2004 Honda, driven by Victoria Vanek of Fishers, IN ,was eastbound on Talmer and slowing in traffic to make a left turn when a 1992 Chevy Pickup, driven by Reddie J. Shepherd of North Judson, rear ended the Vanek vehicle. Shepherd said he slid on the wet pavement and could not avoid striking the vehicle in from of him. He was issued a citation for No Financial Responsibility by Officer Thomas. Damages were estimated over $3,000 and no injuries were reported. Chief Deputy Joe Budner assisted in the investigation.

11/25/11 The North Judson Police are investigating a theft from a storage unit in the 700 Block of Talmer Avenue, at the U-Locks.

11/23/11 A property damage fender bender occurred in the North Judson-San Pierre High School parking lot during the basketball game. North Judson Police Officer Bill Scheiderer is investigating the accident. No injuries reported and damages set at over $1,000.

11/23/11 Jeff Borg of the Knox City Street Department backed up in the parking lot at Demotte State Bank and accidentally hit the awning of the building with the leaf vac truck. The building sustained damage but no damage was done to the truck. The reporting officer noted that about $400 in damage was done.

11/23/11 Elizabeth Sallee reported her garbage can stolen.

11/23/11 Howard Bashore reported the theft of a Statue of Liberty yard ornament.

11/22/11 An employee at the Next Door Food Store told police that she was just given a counterfeit $20 bill. The patron who gave her the money told police that she got it from a different store when cashing her paycheck and she has notified that store of the counterfeit bill.

11/25/11 A resident called police to report an attempted carjacking by shotgun. The victim said he was on State Road 10 West of North Judson and he pulled over to adjust his daughter’s seatbelt. A dark colored vehicle was parked across the road with three males in their early to mid ’20s inside. He said that two males got out of the vehicle and ran towards his vehicle. One man had a shot gun. The victim said he left the area at a high rate of speed.

11/25/11 Sandra Jankosz called police to say she hit a deer with her vehicle but she is home now. No injuries were reported.

11/25/11 A resident in the 11100 block of E. 850 S. said that he owns a pole barn on the property and this morning he noticed that some unknown person(s) had ripped the corners of the metal back and crawled inside and unlocked the door. Christmas decorations, tools, and some copper wire were stolen.
11/25/11 A teenage driver was driving northbound on 900 East just south of 600 North when he hit some uneven spots in the road. He told police that the back end started to get loose and he over-corrected, went off the road and the truck rolled over. He was not injured.

11/24/11 Sandra Benesh reported that she was involved in a car vs. deer accident in the San Pierre area.

11/24/11 Ron Vendl called police to report that he hit a deer near the Bass Lake Pub and Ristorante.

11/24/11 A resident in the 5900 block of S. U Road East in North Judson told police that she returned home to find the windows in her home broken and someone has been inside the residence.

11/24/11 A trafficking incident was filed. A person dropped off a can of coffee for an inmate and officers found that the can had previously been opened and drugs were found in the can. Officers continue to investigate this case.

11/23/11 Robert Schlotzhauer told police that he hit a deer on State Road 39, a ½ mile north of State Road 10. Charlene Jackson reported hitting deer in that same location.

11/20/11 Police were called to a residence in the Denham area for a complaint of two people fighting.

11/20/11 A Winamac resident told police that the lock on the storage unit was broken and items in the unit were stolen. An air compressor and jack stands were a couple of the items missing from the unit.

11/20/11 A resident in the Pulaski area reported to police that she needed a police report for trespassing and stolen property.

11/20/11 Two men in the Franklin Township area were fighting over a deer kill permit. One man found the deer on the side of the road and the other man insisted that it was the deer he just shot. The matter was given to the DNR.

11/20/11 A Jefferson Township resident called police to report that some unknown subject(s) shot a gun and the round hit his house.

11/20/11 A Medaryville resident told police that he was in the process of moving out of his home and had some things laying outside that he was going to pick up in a second load. He left and came back and now all of the things are gone.

Incidents:
11/19/11 A Leesberg, Indiana, man struck a deer on State Road #10 just east of North Judson around 10:40 a.m. causing an estimated $2,500 in damages to his 2009 Nissan and killing the deer. North Judson Police Chief Doug Vessely investigated the accident and advised Charles Clemans was driving and not injured.

11/19/11 The North Judson Police responded to a report of a property damage accident in the parking lot of the U-locks on Oakwood Street. Michael Combs, of Knox, was backing out of the parking lot in his 2005 GMC Pickup and backed into a parked car, owner by Perry Lucas, North Judson. North Judson Police Chief Doug Vessely investigated the incident and estimated the damages at over $1,000.

11/18/11 A custody dispute and a report of a battery, without injuries, was investigated by the North Judson Police. The incident occurred in the 300 Block of Schricker Avenue. A complete report was forwarded to the Starke County Prosecutor’s Office for review.

11/17/11 North Judson Police responded to the North Judson-San Pierre High School for a report of an iPod being stolen from a locker during gym class. This remains under investigation.

11/14/11 Officials at the North Judson-San Pierre High School reported to police that a Kindle Reader was taken from the school. After a joint investigation, a 15-year-old juvenile boy was charged with theft of the reader and the Kindle was returned to the school. North Judson Police Chief Doug Vessely submitted a complete report to the Starke County Probation Department for formal charges.

11/12/11 Two hunters were issued citations after police were called that two hunters were shooting deer from the roadway. The hunters were not wearing their hunter orange.

11/12/11 Police were called to a dog bite incident in Cass Township.

11/12/11 A caller from the town of Pulaski reported a car vs. deer accident. No injuries were reported.

11/12/11 A resident in Harris Township told police that he hit a deer with his vehicle.

11/11/11 A car vs. deer accident was reported in the Monon area. The vehicle was towed from the scene.

11/11/11 A resident in the Cass Township area reported the theft of copper.

11/11/11 A Winamac resident called police to report the theft of a TV and DVD player. No forced entry was observed and the door had been unlocked.

11/10/11 A Winamac resident told police that he hit an 8 point deer and it jumped up and took off. Damage was done to his side mirror and his windshield was shattered.

11/10/11 A driver in the Bruce Lake area reported hitting a deer. There were no injuries and minimal damage was reported.

11/09/11 A Winamac resident called police to report that she received a receipt and notice that the storage unit she rented has been re-rented and that the lock had been cut off sometime in September and the property inside the unit was stolen or smashed.

11/09/11 Dispatch received a call that a school bus stalled in the middle of the road and kids were still on it. The bus was stalled approximately ½ mile north of State Road 14. The bus driver told police that some parents were coming to get the kids and another bus is coming to finish the route.

11/09/11 Officers were called to a property damage accident with no injuries. The accident occurred in the Winamac area and it involved a tractor and a passenger car.

Incidents:
11/13/11 Around 8:15 a.m. CT, the North Judson Police were called to the Family Express in reference to a vehicle that had jumped the curb and struck the Propane Gas Tank holding cage and the building. North Judson Chief Deputy Joe Budner investigated the incident. The driver, Marli Shepherd,, of Winamac stated that as she pulled into the lot, her brakes failed and she jumped the curb striking the propane tanks and the building with her 1997 Ford Taurus. Shepherd was issued two citations: one for False and Fictitious Registration and for Operating a Vehicle without Financial Responsibility. Budner estimated the total damages at over $2,500.

11/12/11 An iPod was reported stolen to the North Judson Police. It was reported to have been taken from the North Judson–San Pierre High School parking lot on Wednesday, November 9th.

11/10/11 Branden J. Williams, of North Judson, was traveling north on State Road 39 coming into the North Judson City Limits when he was distracted for a second, swerved to the right, and struck a cluster of 3 mailboxes and 3 newspaper holders in the area of 6400 South State Road 39. His 1998 Pontiac Grand Am sustained an estimated $2,500 in damages by North Judson Police Chief Doug Vessely. Williams will repair the damage to the mailboxes.

11/09/11 North Judson Police responded to a report of a Battery in the 300 block of High Street during a family dispute. Neither party requested to file formal charges. The parties were separated.

11/07/11 Items were reported stolen from a gravesite in Highland Cemetery to the North Judson Police Department.

11/14/11 Charlie Barnett and Lacey Barnett reported the theft of a Playstation 3 gaming system, seven games, two controllers and a DVD player.

11/14/11 Diane and Mike Kadlec reported the theft of a Wii gaming system, games, wireless controllers, battery packs and movies. The residence had been unlocked to allow their child into the home while they were out.

11/14/11 Knox police were called to ALCO for a call about stolen loading ramps from the building. According to the report, the Manager stated that the ramps are usually behind the store and secured by lock and chain. Three ramps were missing.

11/13/11 Jimmy Piper reported the theft of a 2000 Pontiac Grand Am from his residence.

11/13/11 Christine Armes reported damage to her vehicle while parked at the Woods Apartments. The damage was sustained by another vehicle in the parking lot. Police witnessed seeing a large dent on the passenger side of the quarter panel and a large scratch.

11/11/11 Danielle Lardino reported the theft of clothing items.

11/09/11 A burglary incident was reported at the Starke County Abstract Company in downtown Knox. After an investigation, it was determined that only a small amount of cash was stolen. Items were taken out of a safe and papers were thrown around the office. The office belonging to Attorney, LeRoy Gudeman was reportedly ransacked.

11/09/11 Knox High School Assistant Principal, Mike Bendicsen, reported the theft of a computer. The suspect, a student, had not been seen in school for the past month. Several attempts have been made to retrieve the computer, but those attempts have been unsuccessful.

Incidents:
11/01/11 James Dolezal of North Judson reported to the North Judson Police Department that his debit card was stolen from his vehicle while it was parked at his home on State Street. The card was reportedly used 10 times between 6:40 pm and 12:10 am the night before. After an investigation, North Judson Police Chief Doug Vessely arrested 18-year-old Nickolas Rudd for Theft, forgery, and 10 counts of credit card fraud. He was transported to the Starke County Jail. Rudd is currently out on bond for a burglary charge involving the Grand Central Station.

10/31/11 The North Judson Police responded to a report of yelling coming from a home in the 400 block of Keller Avenue and conducted a welfare check on the occupants. During the course of the investigation, a woman was detained and taken for hospitalization as part of an Emergency Detention.

10/31/11 Officer Bill Scheiderer of the North Judson Police Department received a tip in regards to a vehicle that was damaged at the walking trail parking lot on State Road 10 a few weeks ago. After a follow-up, two male juveniles were reported to the Starke County Probation Department as being the culprits. A full report was furnished requesting charges and restitution.

11/06/11 A caller in Medaryville told police that a woman came to the caller’s house to report that she hit a deer with her vehicle. The woman said she was trying to get home from work and she was really tired. She was lost and had no idea where she was.

11/06/11 The Winamac Fire Department responded to a call that there is smoke in the building. The Manager at Arby’s called police to report the incident and he was told to get everyone out of the building immediately. There was no fire. A motor was smoking in the building and it was taken care of.

11/06/11 A Medaryville resident reported a hit and run accident. Caller said another car backed out and hit his and then left the scene.

11/06/11 A caller advised that he and his wife hit a deer in the Bruce Lake area. He told dispatch that they are ok, “but the vehicle was not”.

11/06/11 Caller told police that he hit a deer on 600 North, east of U.S. 35.

11/06/11 A caller in the Denham area reported that a building on his rented property was on fire. No one was in the building at the time of the incident. Monterey Tippecanoe Township Fire Department was called to the scene.

11/05/11 Caller advised of a small field fire that is creeping along toward an old barn. The fire is not huge but headed toward the structure. The Monterey-Tippecanoe Township Fire Department was called to the scene. More manpower was called to the scene.

11/05/11 The Winamac Police Department was called to a car vs. deer accident in front of All Seasons in Winamac.

11/04/11 Extra patrol was requested at the Winamac State Highway garage when an email suggested that catalytic converters were being stolen from parked vehicles.

11/04/11 A Winamac business reported the theft of gas, but the owner was contacted and it was taken care of.

11/04/11 A caller requested that an officer from the Winamac Police Department be sent to her residence as some unknown person hit her car while parked in the alley.

11/04/11 A Monterey resident called police to request an ambulance. He was burning leaves and something blew up in his face and has burned him badly. The resident was taken to Pulaski Memorial Hospital.

11/04/11 Caller said that a deer ran into the side of her vehicle. The deer had bent the fender and broke a window. Damage was visible all along the right side of the vehicle.

11/02/11 The hospital called the Sheriff’s Department to advise them that a 19-year-old male is in the ER and was shooting a high powered rifle at a metal target and a bullet fragment bounced back and hit him in the chest. DNR was notified but they determined that it was not a hunting accident.

11/06/11 Phillip Caudill called police to report that there was a passenger vehicle parked at Toto Road and 200 East and females were standing outside of the vehicle. He said when they saw him they got back in the vehicle and took off down 200 East. He advised they were traveling in excess of 100 mph.

11/06/11 A car vs. deer accident was reported on State Road 10 near 200 East. No injuries were reported.

11/06/11 Liam Durnan reported a kayak stolen. It was stolen on October 22nd, but he had to wait and get the serial numbers from his company before he could report it.

11/06/11 Brandon Davidson of Knox reported the windshield on his vehicle broken. He believes two people are at fault. Police are investigating.

11/03/11 Sheila Tully, of Winamac, told police that she was traveling west on State Road 8 when a vehicle passed her and splashing water into her face, blurring her vision. She told police that she ran off the road and into a ditch that was full of water. The report states she was not otherwise injured.

11/04/11 Sheila Freet reported the loss of a license plate.

10/30/11 A caller reported hitting a dog on her way to work. The action caused her radiator to spring a leak. She felt the car was not drivable and requested a tow truck.

10/30/11 A caller in the Beardstown area reported the theft of a 4-wheeler a while ago and he thinks he saw it parked at a residence.

Incidents:
10/29/11 A hit and run report was made by the North Judson-San Pierre School Corporation in reference to an unknown vehicle striking the High School football field fence, near the corner of Ufkes Drive and Campbell Street, causing damage. North Judson Police responded, investigated, and are asking for help from the public. Anyone with any knowledge of this incident is asked to call the North Judson Police at (574) 772-5914 or crime Stoppers at 1-800-348-STOP. North Judson Police Chief, Doug Vessely, stated, “The suspect vehicle should have front end damage and could have some rear end damage as well, because the vehicle went completely into the fenced in area and backed out. If you know anything about this, Please call the police”.

10/28/11 A domestic dispute was reported in the 500 block of East Talmer Avenue. The female caller advised her boyfriend would not get out of the vehicle when asked to do so. North Judson police responded and both parties were separated and no charges were requested.

10/26/11 North Judson police were called to the North Judson-San Pierre High School in reference to a dispute between two female students. Chief Deputy Joe Budner investigated the incident and arrested 18-year-old Shantelle E. Vierke from Winamac. She was charged with Battery for fighting with another 17-year-old female student.

10/24/11 North Judson Police Officer Frank Thomas responded to several suspicious subjects in a vehicle near the 600 block of West Talmer Avenue. Larry L. Clemons was one of the subjects, and he had a Body Attachment through the Starke Circuit Court. While he was being arrested on the Body Attachment, police located drugs on Clemons. He was charged with Possession of Marijuana, Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Possession of Methamphetamine. Starke County Sheriff Deputies, assisted in the investigation and arrest.

10/31/11 Marie Jones reported the theft of landscaping timbers from her property by her shed. Bricks and a half roll of chain link fence were also reported stolen.

10/31/11 A Knox resident reported the theft of checks.

10/28/11 Police were called to the Next Door Food Store in reference to a drive-off of $45.15 in gas.

10/28/11 An employee from Osborne’s Mini Mart reported a drive off of $30.00 in gas. There is a suspect in this case.

10/25/11 Sherry Crawford reported damage done to her vehicle in front of O’s Tap in downtown Knox.
Dents were made to the hood of her vehicle, two cross bars on top of the roof of her vehicle had been broken off and was stuck up under the other cross bar. The passenger side of her vehicle would not open and it was functional before she went into the establishment.

Dispatch received more calls about shots fired in that area. The person who bought the guns was called back and was told to put away his guns.

10/30/11 A resident in the 2200 block of E. 150 S. in Knox reported that her sister was just bitten by a dog. The ambulance was not needed but an officer is requested for a report.

10/30/11 Josh McLaughlin reported that he hit a deer in the 6700 block of S. 1150 E. in Knox. The vehicle is drivable but he believes there is more than $1,000 in damage.

10/29/11 A resident in the 400 block of N. US Highway 421 in San Pierre called police to report the theft of a 1996 white Grand Am. It was later recovered.

10/23/11 A Winamac resident called police to report that a tree was on fire at a neighbor’s house. The Winamac Fire Department was called to the scene. The homeowner said that his daughter was burning leaves and must not have gotten the fire out.

10/23/11 A Star City resident reported the theft of a wallet.

10/22/11 A Winamac business reported that an older man wearing a leader jacket and riding a blue moped left without paying for $4.00 in gas. He did go into the store and did pay for other items.

10/22/11 A Winamac resident called to report that some unknown subject(s) sliced his tires.

10/22/11 The Star City Fire Department was called to a field fire.

10/22/11 A small child was reported missing but later returned to the parents.

10/22/11 The White County Sheriff’s Department notified the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department that a man shot pellets at a girl and a photographer who were in the midst of taking senior pictures by an old barn. One girl was hit in the leg and was injured. The pair did not see “no trespassing” signs and so they started to take pictures. A man in a pickup pulled up and started yelling and shooting an airpellet gun. The photographer’s camera was also hit. They left right away after the incident.

10/22/11 A Star City resident called police to report their neighbor urinating in public.

10/21/11 A resident in Medaryville called police to report the theft of a vehicle. The car was in his front yard and it was taken sometime after 10:00 p.m. ET. He didn’t see or hear anything. The vehicle had a “for sale” sign in the front window and the doors were locked. He has the keys to the vehicle and was waiting for a prospective buyer when it was discovered stolen.

10/21/11 A Winamac resident called to report a strong smell of meth. The Winamac Police Department was advised of the call.

10/20/11 A Medaryville resident reported the theft of $13.00 from her vehicle.

10/19/11n A caller told police that someone struck an electrical box coming out of the ground in Francesville at the corner of James and Morton. The cover was broken off and there are wires exposed.

10/19/11 A Pulaski resident called police that two unknown person(s) riding mopeds attempted to break into his barn again.

10/19/11 The Monterey Fire Department was called to check out a possible fire in a home. The caller said they had a gas leak and her husband tried to light the stove and it caught fire. They thought they got the fire out but the house is full of smoke. The fire department checked out the scene.

10/17/11 A Winamac resident told police that a person pulled up next to him and rolled down his window in his vehicle. He then rolled down his window because he thought they needed something and they threw a deer tail in his car and took off.

Accidents:
10/18/11 Two people were injured after a single vehicle accident on County Road 215 East in Pulaski County. Krystal Attinger, 25, of Winamac, was traveling southbound on the county road near 400 North when a deer ran into the roadway. She applied her brakes but she told police her brakes locked up and she lost control of her vehicle. She hit an electrical pole on the east side of the road. According to the accident report, her passenger was intoxicated and had been actively consuming alcohol while the vehicle was in motion. She told police that after the accident, an unknown male picked up her and her passenger and took her to her mother-in-law’s house. She then traveled to the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department to make a report. She said that her passenger was hurt but that person was not with her when she made the report. Attinger was also injured.

10/23/11 A black bi-fold wallet was turned into Chief Deputy Joe Budner. If you are the owner of the wallet you may come to the North Judson Police Department to pick it up. The wallet was found on State Road 10. You must be able to identify it.

10/22/11 A resident in the 400 block of Keller Avenue reported to Officer William Scheiderer that a men’s 26” mountain bike was stolen out of her yard. The bike is valued under $100.00.

10/20/11 A resident in the 100 block of Lane Street reported a suspicious male wearing a Carhart jacket lingering around her home and the neighbor’s home. North Judson Officer Frank Thomas checked the area and was unable to locate anyone.

10/20/11 North Judson Chief Deputy Joe Budner investigated a head-on collision in front of Liberty Elementary. A 1998 black Oldsmobile Intrigue driven by Matthew J. Gould, 27, of Star City, crossed the center line and struck a maroon 2006 Ford Taurus driven by Gail S. Wanderski, 43. Both drivers were taken to IU Health Starke Hospital with injuries. Chief Deputy Budner estimated the damage as over $5,000.00. Assisting the North Judson Police Department at the accident scene were two Starke County EMS units, North Judson Wayne Township Fire Department and the Indiana State Police.

10/20/11 Officer Frank Thomas investigated a battery complaint between two females in the 600 block of West Talmer Avenue. The report will be completed and turned over to the Starke County Prosecutor’s Office for review for charges.

10/20/11 A resident in the 200 block of High Street reported that someone was banging on her door. Officer Frank Thomas located some juveniles that were playing ding-dong ditch in the area. Officer Thomas advised the juveniles to stay in their own yard and to stop playing their game. The juveniles complied to his request.

10/18/11 A resident in the 100 block of Vine Street reported to North Judson Officer William Scheiderer that she had $50.00 stolen out of her purse. Jessie Moses stated that Grover Hopkins stole the money. Officer Scheiderer spoke with Grover and he stated that he did take $50.00 out of Jessie’s purse. A report was turned into the Starke County Prosecutor’s Office for review for charges.

10/17/11 A resident in the 300 block of Schricker Avenue reported damage to her 2001 Ford Mustang. Donna Lee Muzik stated that she pulled her vehicle out of her driveway on Saturday 10/15/11 at 7:30 a.m. The vehicle sank down in the loose gravel due to the ongoing road work. North Judson police Chief Doug Vessely investigated and estimated the damage under $500.00. The Mustang had damage to the front end and spoiler area.

10/25/11 Robin Banks reported damage to her vehicle while parked at Knox High School.

10/24/11 It was reported that sometime during the weekend, some unknown person(s) entered the construction site at JW Hicks in Knox and stole five or six rolls of number 10 copper wire and five or six rolls of number 12 copper wire totaling 5,000 feet of copper wire. The wire was hidden in the rafters of the new building.

10/24/11 Police were called to the area of Roosevelt and West John Street for a truck that had just struck a roadway sign and a mailbox and left the scene. There is a suspect in the case.

10/21/11 Knox City Police were called to a Knox residence in reference to a deceased person. An autopsy is pending for Michael Bailey, but according to the police report, the Starke County Coroner found no signs of trauma and he had a history of health issues.

10/19/11 A harassment incident was reported to police.

10/16/11 Police responded to a domestic issue.

10/23/11 Police were notified of an abandoned vehicle. The vehicle was off the roadway and all the windows were broken out of it.

10/22/11 A resident in the 10600 block of E. State Road 8 in Knox reported that people continue to cause problems with her vehicles and other personal property.

10/23/11 Regina Dodson, 45, of Knox, IN, arrested on a preliminary charge of Possession of Marijuana.

Accidents:
10/20/11 Shannon Hardin of Bristol, Indiana was injured when she overturned her car on State Road 10 by Range Road. She came up on a slow moving vehicle and she applied her brakes and lost control. She went off the north side of the road and the vehicle then overturned.

10/20/11 Robert Vandrunen of North Judson was not injured when he slid off the south side of the road on 400 South and into a ditch. The vehicle came to rest on the passenger’s side in the ditch.

10/22/11 Joseph Michael Garcia of Walkerton was northbound on County Road 1100 East by County Road 700 North when he left the roadway. Upon leaving the roadway, he struck a tree. He was injured in the accident.

10/22/11 Willard Hauser of Grovertown was not injured when a tire blew out on his vehicle on State Road 8 just west of County Road 800 East. When the tire blew out, this caused him to lose control and the vehicle went into the ditch on the north side of the road.

10/22/11 Three people were injured in a two vehicle accident at the intersection of State Road 23 and U.S. 30. According to the police report, Angela Dominiack of Walkerton was southbound on State Road 23 and she continued to cross onto U.S. 30 and didn’t see a vehicle driven by Jeremy Hower of Michigan City. Hower ended up running into Dominiack on the driver’s side of the vehicle. Both drivers were injured along with Hower’s juvenile daughter. Dominiack, Hower and his daughter had incapacitating injuries.

From the North Judson Police Department:

Incidents:
10/16/11 Around 4:50 a.m., a vehicle being driven by Sara Scutchfield, of North Judson, struck a horse in the roadway on CR 250 West, just South of CR 700 South. North Judson Police were asked to respond and investigate the accident. North Judson Officer Frank Thomas reported that the driver was transported to IU Health Starke Hospital with injuries and estimated the damages at over $5,000. Thomas learned that Scutchfield’s vehicle was northbound on 250 West and struck a horse, belonging to Terri Holt, that was in the roadway. The vehicle then veered off to the west striking a fence belonging to Mike Blough.

10/12/11 North Judson Police Chief Doug Vessely investigated a fender bender in the C.V.S. parking lot. While backing out of a parking space, a 1995 Ford 150’s front wheels made contact with the front bumper of a 1999 Ford Mustang parked next to it. Damages were estimated near $500. The driver of the truck had gotten out to check for damages and didn’t notice any and left the parking lot, however a witness had taken the license number and Vessely made contact with the driver, who returned to the scene to finalize the crash report.

10/10/11 A North Judson-San Pierre School Corporation School bus driver, during a regular route in the 300 Block of George Street, had just dropped off some children. As the bus pulled away, the front safety cross arm did not close and that arm struck a 2000 Ford Explorer that was parked on George Street. North Judson Chief Deputy Joe Budner investigated the incident. No injuries were reported and minor damages was sustained to the parked SUV.

10/16/11 A fight was reported in Monterey.

10/16/11 A Winamac resident reported that some unknown subject(s) threw a telephone box in the driveway. Another one was reported later along with a smashed pumpkin.

10/16/11 A 15-year-old juvenile was injured in a motorcycle accident. He was sitting up, but was in a lot of pain. He was later flown to Riley Children’s Hospital for his injuries.

10/16/11 A seven year old child was bitten by a dog in the Monterey area. The dog owner was present when police arrived at the Emergency Room for the report.

10/15/11 A UPS driver called to report that his truck is in a deep ditch, but no injuries were reported. A wrecker arrived on scene to clear the vehicle.

10/15/11 A Winamac resident called police wondering who stole his possessions as the suspect has been tried and convicted.

10/15/11 A Winamac postal carrier was bit by a dog while delivering mail. He tried to get the owner to come to the door but no one would answer. He needs to verify that the dog has its shots. Dog was on a chain, but he got too close. The owner was contacted later and verified that the dog is up to date on its shots.

10/15/11 A Winamac man called police to report that his wife hit him with a whiskey bottle.

10/14/11 A Winamac resident reported that some unknown person(s) hit her vehicle and left the scene. There was minimal damage to her car.

10/14/11 A Beardstown man called police to report that a female was flagging down people asking for money. He helped her out and found an item stolen from the back of his truck. A description of the woman and her vehicle was given to police.

10/13/11 A truck fire was reported in the Francesville area.

10/13/11 A caller called police to report her grandson’s iPod stolen while he was at a residence in Francesville. Jasper County has located the unit through its built-in GPS and are enroute to the residence to retrieve it. The caller said that Jasper County Sheriff’ Department told her that she needed to file a report in Pulaski County since it was stolen in Francesville. Rensselaer Police Department advised that the iPod was recovered.

10/13/11 Police received a call from a resident who said she was being threatened by another lady. The suspect was threatening to kill her dog. Extra patrol was requested.

10/12/11 A Winamac resident requested an officer. He said that some unknown person(s) broke into his truck.

10/12/11 A Francesville resident was hit by a car at the intersection of James and Brown Streets. The victim was airlifted to South Bend Memorial Hospital.

10/12/11 A caller advised that two vehicles collided and rolled over in her yard in the Bruce Lake area. No injuries were reported.

10/12/11 Caller told police that a truck in front of him lost a drive shaft and the caller ran over it destroying his vehicle. It reportedly wrecked his transmission and busted a hole in the floorboard.

10/12/11 The Winamac Fire Department was called to a field fire.

10/12/11 A Denham resident reported her outdoor shed stolen.

10/12/11 White County advised of a driver driving a vehicle recklessly. The vehicle stopped in Reynolds and the driver checked ok. Another caller said that the driver just wrecked and kept going. The driver took down a sign and the caller is behind the vehicle and it’s all over the roadway.

10/10/11 A Monterey resident said they had a theft in progress and two vehicles left the area. Officers were asked to keep an eye out for the suspect vehicles.

10/10/11 Caller reported an abandoned vehicle in a cornfield. Upon further investigation, police learned it was a stolen vehicle out of White County. A wrecker from White County took the vehicle back to the White County Sheriff’s Department.

10/10/11 A Star City resident called to report the theft of welding cables off a welder, an electrode holder and approximately 200 feet of copper wire cable.

Accidents:
10/10/11 A single vehicle accident claimed the life of Andrew Shearin of Plymouth, formerly of Knox. According to the accident report, it was determined that Shearin was driving east on State Road 8, just east of County Road 800 East and for some unknown reason, the vehicle veered off the roadway and onto the shoulder of the road., both passenger side wheels were off the roadway and into an area along the road where there was no supporting shoulder. The vehicle continued east with the two passenger side tires off the roadway. It appeared that the driver had attempted to regain control of the vehicle but it was unable to get back onto the roadway. The front of the vehicle was then pulled further off the roadway causing the vehicle to slide sideways with the front of the vehicle facing south while still in motion to the east. The vehicle then turned over on the driver’s side and struck a utility pole. The pole was severed in half. The Starke County Coroner arrived on scene and pronounced the driver as deceased.

Incidents:
10/09/11 A resident in Cass Township reported that an unknown hunter was on his property and was trespassing.

10/09/11 A Winamac resident reported the theft of a bicycle. The bike was returned when the suspect learned the police were involved.

10/09/11 A caller told police that there is a truck going southbound along the old railroad tracks north of Medaryville with a “bunch” of marijuana sticking out of the truck bed. The truck appeared to be occupied with two teenage boys. A farmer called to report seeing the same thing and he chased them but they took off into the woods. Officers were unable to locate the vehicle but White and Jasper County officers were notified of the situation.

10/09/11 Police were notified of a strong LP gas smell in the driveway at a home in Monterey. The Monterey-Tippecanoe Fire Department was called to the scene. The homeowner answered the door and appeared to be ok. Firefighters noted the strong smell of gas and NIPSCO was notified.

10/09/11 The owner of a liquor store in Medaryville called police to report the theft of money from the store. He said he may have forgotten to lock the door when he left. Someone had called him to tell him that the door was open.

10/08/11 Police were called to the north side of Pizza Hut in Medaryville in reference to a man sleeping in a car. Police found that the subject had a suspended driver’s license. He was given a verbal warning not to drive.

10/08/11 The Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department received a call that shots were fired in Star City. Other neighbors reported the same thing. One person was arrested on the scene for a small claims warrant.

10/08/11 The Medaryville Fire Department was called to a lawn fire north of Medaryville. When firefighters arrived on scene, they noticed that it was a small fire and it was a controlled burn.

10/08/11 A Winamac resident called to report the theft of a vehicle. A person agreed to buy the vehicle from the caller but hasn’t paid for it. It was found to be missing from the residence. The caller suspects that the vehicle could have been sold for scrap.

10/08/11 A resident in the Franklin Township area is requesting a dog bite report. The victim has several stitches to her face following a dog attack by a male St. Bernard/Lab mix. The dog is in quarantine with the Starke County Humane Society.

10/07/11 An apartment maintenance manager reported vandalism to one of the apartments. Some unknown person(s) kicked in the office door and vandalized the office.

10/07/11 A resident in Cass Township reported that someone broke into his garage and stole tools.

10/07/11 A elderly lady called police report her purse stolen. The incident was caught on video. Officers identified the subject, called him, and he will be returning the purse. The suspect said that he thought the purse belonged to another lady and it wasn’t hers.

10/07/11 The Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department responded to a call of an accident between a semi and a van. The caller said he sees one person who was bleeding. The passenger was treated at the scene.

It was then that he learned the lines had been cut. Officers were headed out to the area where this happened as there were reports of theft from his neighbors.

10/07/11 A four-car chain reaction property damage accident took place in the North Judson–San Pierre High School parking lot Friday afternoon. All four were in line waiting to exit the lot, when the last vehicle in line was distracted and hit the car in front of him, causing a chain reaction doing slight damage to each vehicle. North Judson Police Chief Doug Vessely and Officer Frank Thomas investigated and estimated total damages at just under $1,000. All four drivers were high school students.

10/05/11 After receiving a call of a car deer accident, the North Judson Police responded to Talmer Avenue near the intersection of Ufkes Drive. The driver, Mark Stanojevic, had struck a deer crossing Talmer just west of Ufkes, with his Ford pickup. Officer Bill Scheiderer set damages at $750, noting how rare it is to have a deer accident within the town limits.

10/04/11 The North Judson Police investigated a Battery report in the 600 Block of Mulberry Street. A 24 year old female reported being struck (slapped) in the back of her head by a 22 year old man. A complete investigation was completed and provided to the Starke County Prosecutor’s Office for formal charges.

One dog was reportedly put down by an officer due to aggressive movement and the other was taken to the Starke County Humane Society.

9/27/11 Gavin Jackson from Stelrema in Knox reported a theft of propane tanks.

9/27/11 A resident of the 8200 block of North Apache in Walkerton reported his scooter, which was in his front yard for sale, had been stolen the night before.

9/27/11 A resident of the 8800 block of East 700 North in Knox reported her barn had been broken into and three cars were stolen: two 1967 Firebirds and a 1955 Chevrolet truck.

9/27/11 A resident of the 100 block of North Pearl Street in Knox reported her vehicle had possibly been stolen and scrapped.

9/28/11 A resident of the 8700 block of East 75 North in Knox told police that her friend had a stroke and had things stolen from him.

9/28/11 A resident of the 3300 block of East Toto Road in Knox reported that his entire mailbox had been stolen.

9/28/11 Josh Hopper of Walkerton reported he had returned home from work to find his outside window open and his television missing.

9/29/11 A resident of the 8100 block of South 1100 East in Knox reported items had been taken out of her yard and her front gate had been damaged.

9/29/11 A resident of Walkerton reported a camera had been stolen from his truck near the corner of 775 North and 700 East.

10/01/11 A resident of the 3700 block of East Debby Drive in Knox told police that his 2009 red Peterbilt was previously parked at the intersection of Ind. 10 and Ind. 35 and was no longer there.

10/01/11 A resident of Walkerton reported the storage units on Ind. 23 had been broken into.

10/01/11 Joannie Cornado of Knox told police her home and garage had been broken into.

Incidents:
09/25/11 A resident in the 600 block of Arlington Avenue reported his Silver 2007 Toyota Corolla taken from his driveway sometime from 10:00 p.m. Saturday until Sunday morning. North Judson Police Chief Deputy, Joe Budner, is investigating the motor vehicle theft. The vehicle was left unlocked with the keys on the passenger seat.

09/25/11 North Judson Police Chief Deputy Joe Budner investigated a property damage accident at the intersection of State Road 39 and Highway 10. A semi was turning east off of State Road 39 and needed to back up in order to make the turn. The driver, from Etna Green, while backing up, collided with a Geo Tracker causing damage. Estimated damages was set at over $750.

09/24/11 During a traffic stop, the driver of the vehicle, Joshua Shepherd, of Culver, was arrested by North Judson Police Officer William Scheiderer for Driving While Suspended with a Prior Conviction. His vehicle was impounded.

09/23/11 A property damage only fender-bender occurred in the 300 block of Dahlke Street Friday morning. North Judson Police investigated the accident where Eardon Agee backed out of his driveway and hit a parked vehicle. North Judson Police Chief Doug Vessely estimated damages at over $1,000.

09/21/11 North Judson Police received a report of a disabled vehicle on State Road 10 east of town. Officer William Scheiderer arrived on scene and observed a male subject pushing his vehicle. The driver was cited for Driving While Suspended and his vehicle was impounded.

09/20/11 A property owner reported to the North Judson Police that neighborhood boys are cutting down her trees and using it for campfires.

09/19/11 A vandalism report was taken by the North Judson Police in the 300 block of W. Weninger Street in reference to a vehicle was hit by eggs multiple times. Two additional neighbors reported an egg thrown at their home as well.

09/25/2011 Gilbert C. Bolster, 25, North Judson, IN, arrested for a Warrant through Starke Circuit Court for Child Support Obligation.

Incidents:
09/25/11 A resident in the Denham area told police that there are loud vehicles driving back and forth of his residence and then it sounded as if someone was banging on the garage. The caller said that two abandoned houses north of his residence have been robbed and he has seen fresh tracks going in and out of those houses. He requested extra patrol.

09/25/11 A resident in the Monterey area reported that the eastbound stop sign at 600 East and 600 North are missing. When police arrived on scene, they saw that the post the sign was on was hit by a vehicle. Police are wondering if it was hit by the person who called about the sign as the accident appeared new.

09/25/11 A Francesville resident called to report shots fired and said the shots came from the front of the park. Police determined that the shots were fired in a safe direction around the area for practice shooting and the person was shooting at a ground squirrel.

09/25/11 Police received a call about a suspicious man roaming around a business taking scrap. The man had put some aluminum cans in the back of his pickup. Police spotted the suspect and asked him to put the aluminum cans back where he found them.

09/25/11 A caller told police that there was a possible drunk driver all over the road in Winamac. Police caught up with the suspect and the suspect told police that he was texting while driving. He told police that he had been arrested by the Indiana State Police two weeks prior for Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated, but in this case, he did not smell of alcohol and was given a verbal warning for texting while driving.

09/25/11 A Medaryville resident told police that a generator and TV are missing from a storage shed. The caller also said that he was at his rental storage unit and the lock was changed. After an investigation, officers learned that several locks were changed after they were cut off by unknown subject(s). The owner had tried to contact the complaintant to advise him of the change, but was unable to get a hold of him.

09/24/11 A caller in the Bruce Lake area told police that he was putting up a deer blind on his own property when one of his neighbors came on his property and started threatening him. He said he was a police officer. He and his 10-year-old son were at the property getting ready to hunt deer and the person who was harrassing them was purposely driving a 4-wheeler around and making noise so it ruined the hunting day. A conservation officer who investigated the incident said it is a misdemeanor offense to bother someone while hunting.

09/24/11 A Francesville resident reported the theft of cash and an X-Box.

09/24/11 A caller in the Beardstown area told police that a lady is out on U.S. 35 sweeping. A couple of cars had to slow down for fear of hitting her. She was sweeping her yard and now she’s sweeping the highway. Officers confronted the person who said that she likes to go barefoot out to her mailbox and was sweeping around the mailbox so the rocks don’t hurt her feet.

09/24/11 A caller from Francesville told police that there is someone in his driveway letting the air out of his tires. Last month, the caller had a flat tire and a broken window.

09/23/11 A property damage accident was reported at the intersection of Monticello and Spring Streets in Winamac. Minimal damage was reported.

09/22/11 A caller in Star City reported that some unknown person(s) spray painted a building and left behind evidence.

09/22/11 While a police officer was out doing a VIN check, it was noted that the vehicle was reported stolen. The owner of the truck reported the truck and driver missing in January and then he tracked them down in Nebraska and fired the driver. The owner then drove the truck back to Michigan and sold it and did not tell police that he recovered the vehicle.

09/22/11 A resident called to report two vehicles stolen from her yard about one month ago. She talked to the lien company who said that they didn’t repossess them. She thought the company had the cars and that’s why she’s just reporting them stolen now. The officer said they have been missing so long, they will not do a report.

09/21/11 A caller reported an abandoned trailer fire in Medaryville.

09/21/11 A caller reported the theft of a field cultivator, six tractor weights and a white 1982 International semi.

09/20/11 A caller reported that shots were fired behind the complaintant’s house in the northwestern part of Pulaski County.

09/20/11 A Winamac resident called police to report that he hit a large tree down across the roadway. He did not see if because of the fog. Crews were called to dismantle the tree and clear the hazard from the roadway.

09//20/11 Vandalism was reported in one of the cemeteries in Winamac.

09/20/11 A mother caught her own daughter shoplifting and called the police on her.

09/20/11 A Pulaski resident reported the theft of his new John Deere riding lawn mower.

09/26/11 An employee at Cambe’s called the police to report that seven locks had been cut and laying in front of the storage units located behind the business. The locks have been replaced and extra patrol was requested.

09/24/11 Police located a purse laying in the intersection of St. Louis Street and Shield Street in Knox belonging to Destiny Spencer. She was reportedly at O’s Tap when she had a medical emergency and the officer returned the purse to her after she was transported to IU Health Starke Hospital.

09/24/11 An employee at Mark’s Body Shop reported that the air conditioning unit had been stolen from the business at 253 E. John Street.

09/24/11 An employee from Smith Farm Store reported the theft of headphones from the store.

09/19/11 Sandy Ferris reported the theft of a rototiller from her yard.

09/24/11 A resident in the 3000 block of S. 100 W. in North Judson called police to report that a male subject has been walking back and forth in front of her residence for approximately a half hour.

09/24/11 A resident in the 900 block of W. 450 S. in North Judson told police that a male subject drove a stock car down State Road 39 and ran her off the road. The vehicle also ran other vehicles off the roadway.

09/24/11 A resident in the 3800 block of E. Toto Road in Knox requested extra patrol. He said that he saw someone on his property. He said his home was broken into a while ago.

09/23/11 A resident called to report that a vehicle was stuck on the railroad tracks on State Road 23 south of 200 South and someone is trying to get the vehicle off the tracks at this time.

09/22/11 A resident in the 700 block of Cherry Street in North Judson reported the theft of a money order.

09/21/11 A resident in the 100 block of N. U.S. 35 in Knox called police to report that he found a bag with someone’s personal property including prescription bottles and clothing.

09/21/11 Algin Trent, 46, of North Judson, IN, arrested on preliminary charges of Trespass and Theft.

Accidents:
09/26/11 Erin Eaton, 19, of North Judson, was traveling north on U.S. 421 when a red GMC pickup truck went to pass her at a high rate of speed. When the pickup truck was attempting to pass, a semi coming south on U.S. 421 was approaching, and was going to hit the pickup truck head-on. The red GMC pickup swerved back towards her vehicle which caused her to go off the road and down into the ditch and then her vehicle started flipping end over end. A witness gave the same statement. Eaton was treated for her injuries.

09/25/11 Kimberly King, 34, of Knox, said she was driving east on State Road 10 when she noticed a vehicle driving erratically and then it crossed the center line and hit her head-on. After the crash, Carson Rowe, 38, of North Judson, fled the scene on foot. The officer did a non-custodial interview with Rowe and he reportedly told police that he had been drinking and he was very tired and passed out behind the wheel and crashed head-on into King’s vehicle. He then became worried his insurance had expired so he fled the scene.

09/21/11 Kelly Carey, 23, of Knox, was traveling eastbound on State Road 10 just east of County Road 1150 East when he lost control of her car. She said she doesn’t know what cased her to lose control. The vehicle left the roadway, rolled three times, and came to rest of its roof. She exited the vehicle through the trunk area and pulled the passenger through the trunk as well. Both the driver and passenger, 27-year-old Jacquline Allsop, of Knox, were taken to IU Health Starke Hospital for treatment.
