Policies at the Eastern Pulaski Community School Corporation are getting some adjustments, due to recent changes in state law. The corporation’s medication policy saw the biggest update. School personnel will now be allowed to administer “low THC hemp extract” to students, as long as they have a prescription and written permission from a parent or guardian, and the product meets various state and federal requirements.
Eastern Pulaski School Board Raises Adult Breakfast Price, Ratifies Food Bids
A state audit has prompted an adjustment in the adult breakfast price at Eastern Pulaski Schools. Superintendent Dan Foster told the school board last week that school food authorities have to be audited once every three years. “They come in. They check your prices. They look at your calories. They just check everything out,” he explained. “It’s a federal program, so they want to make sure federal dollars are being spent appropriately.”

Eastern Pulaski School Board Extends Administrators’ Contracts
The Eastern Pulaski School Board approved one-year contract extensions for the corporation’s principals and athletic director Monday. High School Principal Rick DeFries, Middle School Principal Ryan Dickinson, Elementary School Principal Jill Collins, and Athletic Director Bill Ball are now under contract through June of 2020.

Winamac High School’s valedictorian and salutatorian were recognized by the Eastern Pulaski School Board last week. Valedictorian Miranda Hettinger told board members she plans to go to St. Mary’s College, where she’ll major in computing and applied math and play softball. Salutatorian Lera Good said she plans to study English and creative writing at Valparaiso University.

Eastern Pulaski School Board Approves Athletic Training Agreement with Pulaski Memorial Hospital
Pulaski Memorial Hospital will provide athletic training services to Eastern Pulaski Schools, in exchange for advertising opportunities at school athletic events. Under an agreement conditionally approved by the school board Monday, hospital employee Destiny Crawford will serve as the school corporation’s athletic trainer for the 2018-2019 school year.
