The county commissioners Monday opened four construction bids for the bridge on County Road 400 East over Mill Creek. They ranged from just over $561,000 to more than $817,000. JCI Bridge Group was the apparent low bidder.

The Starke County Commissioners opened bids Monday night for the reconstruction of Bridge #154 on County Road 100 East over the Robbins Ditch, one-tenth of a mile north of County Road 400 North.
Pulaski County Road 700 North Bridge Replacement to Start Next Month
Final preparations are underway for the replacement of the bridge on Pulaski County Road 700 North over Bogus Run. Jeff Larrison with United Consulting gave an update to the county commissioners Monday. “We’ve conducted the pre-construction meeting with JCI, the contractor that was selected, and we basically have the plan in place now for how to address the project timing-wise,” he explained. “Construction is expected to start March 1, weather-permitting.”

Starke County Commissioners Award Bridge Replacement Bids
The Starke County Commissioners this week awarded bids to replace two bridges to a LaPorte-based contractor. LaPorte Construction Company was the low bidder for Bridge 70, which is located on 50 East south of 500 South across the Smith Ditch. Their price of $396,104.50 includes an additional 400 feet of pavement up to 500 South. They also submitted the low bid for Bridge 79 on 450 South over the Smith Ditch. JCI Bridge Group of LaPorte and Mishawaka-based Northern Indiana Construction Company also bid on both projects. Repairs to both bridges will be done in the spring.
Starke County Commissioners Accept Bridge Bids
Work on two replacement bridges in Starke County will begin as soon as possible. The county commissioners Monday accepted bids from LaPorte Construction Company for the bridge on County Road 800 East over Eagle Creek and the bridge on County Road 900 South over Bogus Run. Starke County Officials Take Bridge Bids Under Advisement
Bids to replace two bridges in Starke County are officially under advisement after they came in considerably higher than expected. LaPorte-based JCI Bridge Group and LaPorte Construction Company both bid on the replacement of bridges on 900 south just west of 100 West over Bogus Run and on 800 East over Eagle Creek, just north of 50 South. The base bids for the 800 East bridge were $323,121 from JCI and $307,099.42 from LaPorte Construction. JCI bid $318,110.76 for the bridge replacement on 900 South, and LaPorte Construction bid $308,018.84 for the work.
Pulaski Commissioners Approve Bridge Inspection Bid
The Pulaski County Commissioners on Monday approved a bid for underwater inspections to be performed on Bridge 268 to determine the condition of the structure in the waterway. The commissioners previously opened the bids in August, allowing time for the bids to be reviewed by the highway superintendent.
Commissioners Award Bridge Replacement Contract
A LaPorte construction company will replace a bridge in Koontz Lake after submitting the lowest of six bids for the work. JCI Bridge Group bid $177,367.06 to replace the bridge on County Road 1000 East. Commissioners opened the bids during their Monday meeting. JCI’s price for the work was the lowest, and Gariup Construction Company from Gary submitted the highest bid at $327,700. Mark Wilson of JPR reviewed the six bids to make sure they were in order and recommended the commissioners award the project to JCI Bridge Group. The project is scheduled to begin on June 1 and continue for 90 days.
