A man arrested after a LaPorte County police pursuit back in June has now been charged with first degree murder. LaPorte County sheriff’s deputies arrested Jose F. Zavala, 38, also known as Roberto Rodriguez-Zavalo, after he allegedly led them on a chase through the northern part of the county.

During the traffic stop, officers say they found a loaded firearm in the passenger compartment.

A pickup truck apparently tried to go around it by going left of center and crashed head-on into an eastbound passenger vehicle.

Driving 160 miles per hour on the Indiana Toll Road landed a Wisconsin man in the LaPorte County Jail Tuesday evening, according to Indiana State Police. Trooper Dustin Eggert says he saw a Dodge Challenger Hellcat pass him at a high rate of speed heading east and then weave through traffic without using turn signals.
Two Arrested During Crackdown on Snowmobile Violations in Southern LaPorte County
A crackdown on snowmobile violations in southern LaPorte County led to two arrests Friday night. Indiana Conservation Officers, LaPorte County Police, and Westville Police saturated the area of U.S. 421 and County Road 375 South, after a group of snowmobile riders allegedly went there after fleeing from Conservation Officers around 10:30 p.m.
Gary Man Arrested, Following Suspected Burglary in LaPorte County
LaPorte County Police have arrested a Gary man, following a suspected burglary at a gas station. Shortly before midnight Tuesday night, officers were called to the Family Express station at the intersection of State Road 2 and County Road 500 West. Police say someone had gotten in and taken numerous cigarette cartons.
