North Judson officials took a major step forward with their website creation process this week by securing viable domain names. North Judson Town Council Covers Preliminary Cost Estimate for Norwayne Field Splash Pad

North Judson Town Council members held a preliminary discussion about financing for the proposed splash pad installation at Norwayne Field when they met on Tuesday.

Since there seems to be a general consensus amongst community members and town representatives that this is a positive project to pursue, Councilman James Young said he’s been coordinating with Bill Smith from Vortex Aquatic Structures about developing a plan.

Councilman Young said he told Smith the Town is looking to spend approximately $60,000 or less for the installation of the recreational water feature.  Continue reading

The Next Stellar Step for North Judson is to Create a Comprehensive Plan

Coordination between North Judson officials and representatives at the Kankakee Iroquois Regional Planning Committee (KIRPC) is happening as the town prepares to have a comprehensive plan created.

When North Judson town council members met on Monday, Clerk-Treasurer Andrew Rowe shared a bit about the recent meeting held at Starke County Economic Development Foundation offices about local Regional Stellar efforts.

North Judson Clerk Treasurer Shares Plans to Get Clock on Lane Street Working Again

North Judson’s Clerk-Treasurer is looking to get a focal point in town back in working order. Clerk-Treasurer Andrew Rowe told council members and meeting attendees on Monday that he wants to fix the tall clock that stands in front of Grand Central Station on Lane Street.

Rowe said, “It’s a neat thing to have in our downtown and I think it’s wasted there; A: not working and B: not being lit up in the evenings.” Continue reading

Signage Installed Around North Judson to Help Guide Trail Travelers

Bicyclists and pedestrians utilizing the trails in North Judson now have some signage to guide them.

Back in May, Prairie Trails Club Representatives Steve and Kathy Lucas came before Town Council members, requesting permission to place signs around town that would help guide people using the trails. The members unanimously approved the request.

As a reminder, The Erie Trail in North Judson runs a little more than 9 miles and is a part of two major trails that stretch across the whole country. Continue reading

Town-Wide Yard Sale Discussed at North Judson Town Council Meeting

Saturday’s town-wide yard sale was a topic of discussion when North Judson Town Council members met Monday evening.

Clerk-Treasurer Andrew Rowe told members that there were 43 individuals who signed up in time to be included on the maps and eight additional individuals came in to purchase permits after the fact. Continue reading

Don’t Miss Your Chance to be on the Map for this Year’s North Judson Town Wide Yard Sale

North Judson residents who wish to participate in the annual town wide yard sale need to sign up as soon as possible! The event will be held, rain or shine, on Saturday, August 4th from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m.

To participate a permit must be received from Town Hall, located at 310 Lane Street. In order to appear on this year’s map, individuals need to be signed up by 4 p.m. on Tuesday, July 31st.  Continue reading

North Judson Town Council Addresses Property Classification Concern

North Judson Town Council members addressed a property classification concern when they met last Monday.

Don Ward and Gus Curran came before council members last week to ask whether they knew if a particular piece of property was zoned within the town limits or if it fell in the county’s jurisdiction.

He added that they were looking to get some kind of definitive statement from the council as soon as possible since Curran is attempting to sell the property and already had one client turn away due to the zoning complications. Continue reading

North Judson Town Council Authorizes Insurance Assessment

The existing insurance policy for the Town of North Judson will be receiving a thorough assessment, following a decision made by town council members Monday night.

Representatives from ONI Risk Partners provided a presentation to the town council, alerting them of a cost-free opportunity where they take a look at the town’s existing property and liability insurance and compare it to other programs that are offered. Continue reading
