Pulaski County Commissioners Approve Chip Spreader Purchase

An equipment upgrade for the Pulaski County Highway Department was approved by the county commissioners Monday. They agreed to let Highway Superintendent Gary Kruger buy a chip spreader from Southeastern. It will cost the Highway Department $193,000, after a $30,000 trade-in allowance.

Pulaski County Sheriff Again Urges Officials to Keep Work Release Center in Facilities Plans

Now that the Pulaski County Commissioners have chosen a path for a potential courthouse renovation, Sheriff Jeff Richwine is renewing calls for a dedicated work release facility. He told the county council last week that while there are no easy answers for preventing drug addiction, additional programs could help treat the problem that already exists.

Pulaski County Commissioners to Vote on Solar Ordinance Updates Today

Pulaski County Commissioners: Mike McClure, Jerry Locke, Kenny Becker

Updates to Pulaski County’s solar farm regulations are up for the county commissioners’ final approval this morning. One of the biggest changes is that commercial solar farms would only be allowed in agricultural zones after a hearing before the board of zoning appeals or in planned unit developments. The proposed updates to the county’s Unified Development Ordinance got a favorable recommendation from the advisory plan commission last month.

Pulaski Council, Commissioners Approve Four-Way Stop at 400 North and 1400 West

More stop signs are coming to the intersection of Pulaski County Roads 400 North and 1400 West, in spite of some county officials’ concerns about their necessity. The county council and commissioners passed an ordinance Monday officially making the intersection a four-way stop. While the commissioners approved it unanimously, council members Mike Tiede and Ken Boswell voted against it.

Pulaski County Council and Commissioners to Discuss Courthouse, Income Tax Configuration

The Pulaski County Courthouse will be discussed during tonight’s joint county council and commissioners meeting. Architects have presented a few different options for renovating this historic courthouse and possibly adding onto the Justice Center, ranging from almost $4.9 to almost $8.6 million. County officials have also been presented with various proposals for issuing bonds to pay for the work.
