Pulaski County Has to Rebid Paving Projects to Qualify for Community Crossings Grant

The Pulaski County Highway Department will have to redo the bid process for this year’s Community Crossings projects. Last month, the county commissioners awarded a $1.18 million bid to Town & Country Paving for work on County Road 550 South west of State Road 39 and County Road 600 South from State Road 119 to Base Road.

Pulaski EMS Director Looking to Reinstate On-Call Pay, Assistant Director Position

Pulaski County’s new EMS director is looking to make a few changes at the department. Brandon DeLorenzo told the county commissioners last week that he wants to bring back on-call pay. “We used to do on-call, and have somebody available on-call,” he explained. “We have a budget line item for that, but I don’t believe it’s in the pay matrix. I just wanted to get the process going on that.”

Pulaski County Commissioners Want Input from Office Holders Before Approving Email Upgrades

The Pulaski County Commissioners have decided to hold off on upgrades to the county’s email system, until office holders have a chance to learn more about the proposed changes. IT Director Matt Voltz told the commissioners last week that the new system would make it easier for the courts, jail, and prosecutor’s office to communicate when scheduling cases.

Pulaski County Saw Significant Return on Investments in 2018

Pulaski County’s investments had a good year in 2018. During Tuesday’s board of finance meeting, Treasurer Teresa Bryant reported that the county earned almost $73,000 in interest off of its $4,250,000 in investments, plus more than $316,000 from its cash management account. “The last half of 2018 has been really extremely good, compared to what it has been,” she said.

Planning Underway for Bridge Replacement on Pulaski County Road 400 East

The 60-year-old bridge on Pulaski County Road 400 East over Mill Creek is set to be replaced. The county commissioners Tuesday approved contracts to allow Jeff Larrison with United Consulting to begin working on the design. “We’ve been looking at this since August of 2017,” Larrison told the commissioners. “This bridge is way up on your priority list.”

Ambulance Bids, Bridge Contract to be Discussed During Pulaski County Commissioners Meeting

Ambulance bids are expected to be discussed during this morning’s Pulaski County Commissioners meeting. The EMS Department had planned to purchase a truck this year. County officials have also been exploring the possibility of renting an ambulance or using a lease purchase agreement to spread out the payments.

‘Save the Pulaski County Courthouse Group’ Offers Safety, Security Recommendations

As Pulaski County officials consider long-term facilities plans, the Save the Courthouse group has come up with some recommendations to address safety and security concerns in the meantime. A list of two proposed solutions was presented to the county council Monday. One involves locking all the doors except for one set, and creating a single point of entry staffed by an officer.

Pulaski County Council Debates Funding Arrangements for Recent Facilities Proposal

Funding arrangements for the recent facilities plan that called for the demolition of the Pulaski County Courthouse were approved by the county council Monday, but not without some debate. Newly-elected council member Kathi Thompson was concerned that the county commissioners didn’t ask for council members’ opinions before hiring an architectural firm.
