Pulaski County Emergency Medical Services had a busy year in 2017. Interim EMS Director Kyle McTiegue presented his year-end statistics to the county commissioners last week. “We ended up with 1,549 calls this year,” he said. “1,343 of them were ALS calls. 181 were BLS calls. We did 301 transfers. 233 of them were out of Pulaski Memorial, and roughly 70 were from other hospitals with our third crew.”

Pulaski County is looking for funding to help get some of the people awaiting trial out of the county jail. Last week, the county commissioners voted to allow Superior Court Judge Crystal Brucker Kocher to apply for a grant from the Indiana Department of Correction to help launch a pretrial release program.

Pulaski County Commissioners Approve Insurance Switch
Pulaski County will have a new insurance provider in 2018. The county commissioners voted last week to switch to Bliss McKnight. The company’s premium is about $5,500 more than what the county’s current provider was offering for next year, but still about $6,000 less than what the county paid in 2017.
