LaPorte County Police are investigating a fatal crash on State Road 39. The crash investigation had the road closed between county roads 650 North and 800 North Thursday afternoon, according to a Facebook post from the LaPorte County Sheriff’s Office. It finally reopened around 6:50 p.m. Officers say more information will be released Friday.

A couple roads in southern Pulaski County may soon be getting upgrades, as part of a potential Community Crossings project. The county received three bids for hot mix asphalt work on County Road 550 South west of State Road 39 and County Road 600 South from State Road 119 to Base Road. The total costs ranged from under $1.18 million to almost $1.33 million.
Portions of State Road 39 Closed Today and Tomorrow for Paving Work
Additional sections of State Road 39 will be closed today and tomorrow. Chip and seal work will have the road closed between State Road 10 and State Road 14, according to the Indiana Department of Transportation. That stretch is already closed to through traffic, due to a bridge replacement project.
Bridge Replacement Project on State Road 39 to Begin Today
The bridge replacement project on State Road 39 just south of North Judson was delayed slightly from last week. Indiana Department of Transportation officials say that the project will begin today.

Two State Roads Reopen after Flooding Event
Two state roads are back open now that flood waters have receded.
The Indiana Department of Transportation opened State Road 39 between State Road 10 and U.S. 30 and State Road 8 between U.S. 35 and State Road 39. The roads were closed when high water from historic flooding intruded on the roadways in late February. The Pulaski County Commissioners have once again taken action to chose a paving contractor for several miles of hot mix asphalt work. Town & Country Paving was selected by the commissioners Tuesday to resurface County Road 200 South from U.S. 421 to State Road 39 and County Road 400 East from 200 North to 400 North.

NJ Town Council Approves Signage for Prairie Trails Club
The North Judson Town Council received a request on behalf of the Prairie Trail Club (PTC) to install signage at the intersection of State Road 10 and State Road 39 during their meeting yesterday evening.
Peggy Bohac spoke as a liaison for Steve Lucas, the president of the PTC, and explained that the club had expressed interest in putting a sign up by Norwayne Field to alert people of where to find the trail. The trail in question is the North Judson Erie Trail which is part of the transcontinental American Discovery Trail. It was utilized for the 5K Color Run this summer. Continue reading
Pulaski County Sergeant Commended by U.S. Attorney’s Office for Lifesaving Actions
A sergeant with the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office is being recognized for saving the life of an overdose victim in Clinton County last month.
