Ancilla College Introduces APAC Program

An open house and ribbon cutting ceremony was held Tuesday morning to usher in a new chapter to the array of specialized programs that Ancilla College offers its students. The Autism Program at Ancilla College (APAC) will help students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) to build social and workplace skills along with academic and real-world knowledge.

Students with ASD may have superior intellectual ability but are challenged in social situations or have a communication gap. The APAC will allow growth in these aspects as the students gather skills in their post-secondary education.

The bank that helped finance the construction of the first Ancilla College residence hall is giving back to the school. 1st Source Bank has donated $65,000 to the school as an early-bird gift during the quiet phase of Ancilla’s upcoming comprehensive campaign. Ancilla College Officials Finalizing Residence Hall Construction Plans

Ancilla College NEWAncilla College officials hope to break ground on the school’s first residence hall within the next three to four weeks. Vice President of Development Todd Zeltwanger says the school’s board of trustees approved the construction late last year.

“By August we hope to have a three-story residence hall with about 96 beds ready for occupancy for students from all over the area to come and live on campus and experience Ancilla College in a whole new way,” Zeltwanger said. Continue reading

Ancilla College Offers Free College Course for New Students

  
 

Ancilla College is offering a free college course to first-time students to help kick-start a college career. Todd Zeltwanger, executive director of institutional advancement at the college, told WKVI that a number of students have started their college career through the We Believe In You program.

The program offers a chance for new students to give college a shot and get readjusted to a life of education.

Tree Planted in Otis R. Bowen’s Memory at Ancilla

Ancilla College yesterday afternoon dedicated a tree to a former governor of Indiana and former board of trustees member for the college. Dr. Otis R. Bowen passed away on May 4 at the age of 95 and the college is looking to commemorate him and his efforts by dedicating a Kousa Dogwood tree in his memory.

Bowen served as not only a governor of Indiana from 1973 to 1981, but he was also a former secretary of health and human services for the Reagan administration and a former board of trustees member for Ancilla College in the ’70s. According to Todd Zeltwanger, executive director of institutional advancement at the college, he played a very big role in helping Ancilla College become what it is today.

Tri Ancilla Event Raises $4600

Todd Zeltwanger, executive director of Institutional Advancement at Ancilla College, has announced the recently-held Tri Ancilla event netted approximately $4600. Zeltwanger said that was significantly up over the past two years.

The event also brought a field of 140 participants from five different states to the college for the fourth annual triathlon. Men and women, ranging in age from 15 to 87, participated in a 500-yard swim, 11-mile bike ride, and 3.1-mile run that toured the Donaldson campus and surrounding areas.

Prizes were awarded to the top male and female finishers as well as the winners of various age groups. On the men’s side, the overall winner was Jim Langfeldt of Plymouth. On the women’s side, the overall winner was Madison Woods of Osceola.

The event was held on May 19.
